I was referencing UAL, they did and do, to the best of my knowledge, express concerns on the subject. Aka "worry".And said airlines have programs right now that fills that gap where they aren't spending hundreds of millions to retain regional pilots. So I'd say it was a correct statement that this is not on their list of worried items. He didn't say they aren't using brainpower for hiring programs for the future need of pilots.
On the bonus thing - psych 101 - the attempt is to create a more positive mindset amongst other things. Think "company made it easier for me to stay the course and end up here" vs "I friggin slugged it, it sucked bad, but now I'm here, so it better be decent". Exaggerated substantially, but there is a merit to it.
I'll give them credit though, the gap is bridged just enough to curb the outflow to LCCs somewhat (though my sim partner from last year just put in his 2 weeks to go to Spirit, so that obviously doesn’t work 100%). Some majors didn't acknowledge LCCs existence until recently at all.
