Delta Psychological Eval Lawsuit?

Sometimes, its even Hispanic people that I have to educate about Spanish.

"I'm speaking Mexican. Nope, you're speaking Spanish. A language originally from Europe. See, Christopher Columbus came from Spain. The Spaniards had sex with the Indians and that's how the Mestizo people or the Mexican race (you) was created.

I typically am only rewarded with dead eyes staring back at me. Idiots. Don't even know your own history.

There is a point there though. With how badly some native people butcher the hell out of the spanish language when they speak it........be it spanglish or something else, by people whom Spanish is their first language......there just about is a subset of spanish in varying localities that probably can be identified by a local name. Things like oranges referred to as chinas as opposed to naranjas in places like PR and DR, due to the shipping boxes showing them as having come from China, are things that annoy the Castilian spanish speakers.

However, I can understand “Norteña”, I don’t understand central Mexico City-style Spanish and forget it all in Spain. I remember trying to order a tortilla and some coffee in Spain, in Spanish, and the guy said “Amigo, we speak Etttttthpanol, not Mexican”.

“Well can a brother get a Spanish tortilla and a coffee?” :)

Do not make fun of the King's lisp, if you want to survive over there. :)

To them, the PR's, DR's, Cubans, and Mexicans already trash "their" language enough.

Geeze. Yeah, that is freaking lame. We can all hazard a guess that the CA in this story:

1)Has a high number of bid avoids.
2)Probably has multiple divorces and children that don’t talk to him. Totally not his fault though!
3)Watches lots of Fox News.

You're almost certainly right. The probability of coming across anyone who watches CNN makes it a real anomaly! :bounce: :bounce:

Call an Argentine woman a Latina, and embrace the fury!

True story off the press today:

So I checkin for my reserve trip today. I see a FO I flew with in NY. He tells me he was just in the pilot lounge (that’s a separate pilot-only place away from the checkin room). At any given time there’s only like 5 or 6 guys in the pilot lounge. This FO and another FO he met both speak Spanish, the FO I flew with was from Puerto Rico. Not sure where the other FO was originally from. But anyway, these guys run into each other in the pilot lounge and start conversing in Spanish. Not loud, just conversational, nothing out of the ordinary.

A Captain comes up to them and says excuse me, “don’t you think you’re being rude speaking Spanish to each other? Do you think that’s appropriate? There’s other pilots here and all I know you could be talking about us behind our back.”

I kid you not. I know the FO, I don’t have a reason to doubt him. Being a nice FO he just said he didn’t mean to be rude and was just talking family stuff, and not about any pilot. The CA left them, but before walking away said that if he could speak French he wouldn’t speak French here because it’s rude.

Both FOs left the lounge because they didn’t feel comfortable.

The nerve of some pilots! People speak different languages. And come from different backgrounds. Oh the horror! These incidents would happen less the more diverse we get as a pilot group. It sucks it happens though.
They should’ve started laughing as he walked away just to get under his skin. If captain uncultured was minding his business it wouldn’t have bothered him.

Dude gave me the creeps!

On one of the breaks, I noticed one of the toilets in the men’s bathroom was running continuously, and I worried it would flood. After exhausting my plumbing expertise (jiggled the handle), I tried to find someone to tell. Finding no one else, I approached the good doctor:

“Hey Doc, I know this is not your responsibilty, but I wanted to let someone know that one of the toilets is running”

Him: “Thanks for acknowledging that it’s not my responsibility...”

“Mmmmmyyyeeeeeokayy, bye!”

Many folks don’t understand that the vast majority of questions on the MMPI are inconsequential. Designed to bore the mind into “autopilot”, so the few consequential questions get answered with little conscious thought.

Another minor point: It’s a “personality inventory”. Not a “psych eval”.

Like many things, the MMPI has morphed over the years. Early on, it was most certainly a “psych eval” in its infancy it was a correlation test. they went down to the psych ward and gave diagnosed psychopaths these questions, then they tested “normal” people . Where there was a significant difference in responses they noted and used those questions. Maybe you’re confusing it with Myers-Brigg or others, but the MMPI certainly had a psych eval component.
