I'm just going to leave this riiiiiiight here...

Do not put the Captain into a position in which he must choose between enforcing and ignoring uniform rules.

(Like wearing your frakkin' North Face.)

Agree, but still, I’m not going to enforce the uniform standards. I am 100% compliant in my uniform, and I’m happy to set the example, but I’m not enforcement.

I guess there may be a point where it’s so bad that I do say something. But I have yet to see anything that bad. (Dude. Somebody has to use that seat after you, go find some pants and underwear.)

Some go too far with this stuff, like also thinking it's ok to notify fellow crew members of extensions when scheduling calls you instead of them. "Um haven't seen them, Ill keep an eye out for them though. You should probably call them directly"

Why, in God’s name, would anybody be answering a call from scheduling, while on a rotation, in the first place?

There is a special seat in hell reserved for these people. New people get one pass... They didn't know. But if it happens again they should be shunned.

I had this happen the other day. 10 minutes from push, captain answers the phone the hands it to me - it's scheduling. I hung it up and handed it back to him.

What a troll move. Probably wonders why he eats alone all the time...

My phone is set to go straight to voicemail if scheduling calls. They also love to ACARS and tell us to call scheduling or have us tell a crewmember to call. I refuse to do so. Nor will I ever do so. We have a few CA's that love to try and track down someone on the airplane to call scheduling. And they deserve a middle finger and a big F.U.

Mmm, ACARS reroutes are a different thing. At least a SJI. Those you have to respond to. If not, then the agent will hand you the reroute message when the door opens. Phone calls, however, you don’t have to respond to.

We fought tooth and nail to make sure they couldn’t get ACARS reroutes. They’d still have a crew scheduler waiting for us at the gate, but if we saw them before the door opened we’d jump out the service door and run. :)

More proof that pilots lie in interviews. "If you are a lineholder and scheduling calls you, will you answer the phone?"
"No" said no pilot ever across the desk from HR.

Does one hate their job, wanna stick it to the company, or just have really bad re-assigning rules? As a lineholder, I've never feared a phone call from CS. Why wouldn't you answer? I'd much rather be told pertinent information now, rather than find out later at an inopportune time. Last time it happened I had landed in LAX and they needed me to go to Dallas. So what? In the middle of a domestic rotation, who cares where you go? As long as 1. my original trip pay is protected and get the greater of the two (we do), and 2. I still finish at or prior to my original pairing last day end time, I couldn't care less what CS wants to do with me during a rotation.
