Enough is enough. Just stop. Guard.

That being said a few weeks back, while in cruise, some guy randomly chimed in on guard saying:

"Attention all operators, attention all operators at or above FL340, you are cleared hot on chem trails......Make it rain!"

I had to give an A+ for creativity on that one. Because somewhere, far below us, in some backwater community, an extreme prepper enjoying the morning outside his bunker, heard that, shut down his moonshine still and quickly removed his tinfoil lined ball cap to don his gas mask.

I heard a legitimate issue on guard today in the NE US coming back from CDG. Not a single person hollered out "ON GEEEEUUUUAAARRRD" or even anything at all.

@ZapBrannigan has defeated the scourge! It might be early, but I'm calling it!

It's VERY east coast... which pretty much narrows it down to a couple regionals who don't fly to places beyond there. I can leave Mecca and fly down south...as soon as you're south of FL, it quiets down... as soon as you head NE to the tracks, it quiets down... pass the midwest going west, it quiets down.

As far as the 10% are idiots rule... that follows for the crappier carriers. Better airlines and it is more like 1%.

It's an honor to taxi on the same taxiways as you, sir. ;)

I saw that on Twitter. Glad he's gonna make a buck on this. At least somebody is getting something out of the sophomoric BS.

Does the epicenter of guard douchebaggery seem to be D.C. or is it just me? Basically have to turn it down to a barely audible volume within 300 miles of that place, which is ironic, given the nature of DCA and all.

I hear Guard used more than anything for Washington Center calling airliners who have missed handoffs.

It is also amusing to occasionally hear controllers coming on to warn unidentified aircraft that they are penetrating restricted airspace. Usually that aircraft is doing around 60kts at <500' AGL and likely doesn't have a radio to begin with....

EDIT: And yes, I have, at least once, called FDK tower on 121.5....(sigh)

I want to meet the Australian lady in my neck of the woods...
Really warms my day when I hear her warn aircraft approaching colatition airplanes doing 435 knots. :)

A few months ago going into RIC there was what sounded like a 10 year old kid on guard babbling about pokemon or something non-stop at about about 9 AM. Very strange.

Add me to the list of people in the NE, who hear the same voice, over and over. Im not accusing anyone of anything, but it could be mostly someone on the ground.

Earlier this week we were flying from BWI to Las Vegas and both the captain and myself noted that the superfluous guard chatter really decreased the further west you go. :)
