Skywest Questions

Just follow the same discipline and tactics you used during sim like chair flying, practicing flows, reviewing profiles ,etc... BUT.... Make sure you go on some observation flights.

Is there a way to find flights being done by SkyWest that are out and back? Buddy of mine was saying to look at open time but I don't really understand that part.

Should have said something, I could have had you come over and explain it over beers.

Anyone buy a blazer at the company after new hire training? Do I purchase it online or can I just call the company to place an order? I'm not even sure who makes the blazer, whether it's M&H or Crew Outfitters

Either M&H or Crew Outfitters will work, mostly preference on your part. My sims were in CVG so i just bought mine from the Crew Outfitters store in the B Concourse there. Thye had to send it to Atlanta to get the stripes added but got free shipping and got the same price as going through the online SkyWest employee portal.

When you travel in or out of uniform is it possible to use the United Club lounge?

Is it possible to purchase a discounted pass? Just show them a badge? Secret handshake?

Nope. Only way is to have a credit card or membership that gets you in. Finally about to pull the trigger on something for us, AMEX Centurion clubs sure are nice!

Yes it is possible to buy day passes. You can do it via the united app, at the front desk of the club or via the lounge buddy app. If you plan on using it a lot /nonrev'ing on UA a lot, The Chase United explorer card (500.00) one may yield you beneficial with unlimited access to the UA Club. or like someone else said the Amex Platinum card, if you NonRev more on Delta.

Amex Centurion lounges requires boarding passes with a seat assignment. Keep that in mind. And the last place our passengers want to see crew members is in an airline lounge taking up seats. So make sure you not in uniform when visiting any club. I like to be as discreet as possible.

Question for you 175 guys..

If you buy the year activation fee for Delta bennies, will they hold once you transfer to a base that is not Delta dedicated? I am LAX based, and am deciding whether or not it will be worth it to buy those bennies for myself and my wife. I have a bid in for PDX and it looks like I am within 10 spots of getting based there. Also, does anyone know if PDX will be adding more crews in the future? I heard they received a few extra planes but the base has been stagnant as far as growth since October.

That whole process, since it involves a change in PPR, is messy. I'd avoid it if I were you.

Not in uniform.
I got the United club card because my company doesn't know how to use reserves other than airport standby.

Change into a polo, list for a flight to receive a locator/standby "boarding pass" and go into the club.

It's worth it for me, because I've spent the entirety of 6 months on airport reserve, and it's a nice way to stay out of the crew room. Free snacks, swanky coffee, better wifi, more TVs.
Less b*tching about the union, management, gubbamint, etc

It was not unheard of in EWR to get a United Club membership in lieu of a crash pad while on reserve or a stand-up line.

Apparently you're not allowed to sleep in there, per their terms of service. But I've seen people napping in there before
