Envoy To Boost First Year Pay

I just went back and did the math on what I made on year 1 at 9E, as I just finished it. Just a hair over 70K as an FO is real hard to complain about.
What's your QOL like? pure curiosity.
But I did not make 70k on the whale this year... which has me going wtf.

I was averaging credit of about 120 a month, flying probably 80-85 a month outside of months with training. Between 7 and 10 days off, quite a few day trips, living in base is the only way you can pull that off. Now that I'm moving out of base, I'm going to back way off on it.

Ok so that was picking up open time then? 7 to 10 days off... ouch.
Wow. Because the wait for OE is so long?
Ya so 4 months on training pay then any month you take vacation or go to training you can't break guarantee unless you fly extra, which I dont nor should you have to.

I'll easily clear the mid-60s as a 2nd year MSP-900 FO, no less than 15 das off, and live in base. That's bidding around 50% on the FO list.

Again, a significant portion of my pick ups were day trips, which living in base isn't bad, but yes, I was picking up whatever I could. Remember, when you come from 24/7 on call freight, even the QoL I've had for the last 9 months was way better. I enjoy going to work, I can't spend money that way... But yes, most people wouldn't consider what I've done for the last 9 months as having any QoL. Personally, I've enjoyed it, but it's not a sustainable scheme. Most of it was to hit the 1000 121 SIC, to be legal for upgrade, should the opportunity arise sooner than later.

Smart man. Yea, I've thought about working more just so I don't sit around the house thinking of stuff I "need". But then again 18 days off /month is pretty nice.

Management no longer wants long term deals especially in this climate as it ties you into rates. Long term contracts really hosed the regional industry in the past. ExpressJet has already taken airplanes from one legacy and employed them elsewhere with someone who would pay more money.

There is no scope room for more airplanes unless they come from someone else, so no real growth available. Even PSA growth is having to come at the expense of Envoy. At some point their costs will balance out and PSA won't get any more growth.

Also, good news for non lifers as it means more money (-700 rates are higher than -200 rates), and the possibility of upgrades eventually.

On a side note, I flew with another CRJ FO hired by a legacy last trip. No TPIC time. The irony that many senior captains can't get interviews.

I'm on the junior plane at AA so I fly with "senior captains" who have come over from eagle, psa and piedmont almost every week. They're all nice guys for the most part, but I'd rather fly with a 25 year old no TPIC person any day of the week. And I'm talking about in the airplane, not hanging out on the overnight. The senior guys have a much harder time learning the new airplane and the new environment they're operating in. They're stuck in their ways. The no TPIC/younger people I've flown with are eager to learn and not afraid to ask questions. It's pretty much night and day. There's a reason the senior captains haven't been hired anywhere yet.

I understand not everyone is the same and some of the older guys have just had bad luck. These are just my thoughts after two years of flying with them.

Yeah, this reads as actually being that BOTH of you are set in your ways... :)

Retired Delta, American, United, Air Force and corporate guys working at *bottom feeding freight company* as direct hire captains. They're just as open-minded as the 300 hour FOs. What I'm getting at is that ego and prejudice doesn't have a flight time or experience threshold. ;)

In other words, I think your argument is non-sense and/or your company is awful at screening people. From what I understand, even the flow-through guys are under an evaluation period and clearly must not be being evaluated very well...

Thanks for the update on our screening process. In case you forgot, there is no such screening process for a flow-through. Enjoy the bottom feeding freight company.

I put a smiley face after a jab so it's cool right?

Be thankful you don't have to interview when you finally flow
