Envoy To Boost First Year Pay

I would like to see Envoy take over Compass flying in the West Coast and get a base out there. Or get a base for any of the WO on the west coast. If PDT can start flying 145's using Envoys training they can give 175's in house to PDT or PSA. Basically would like to see all 175's fly in house. If mesa can attract pilots I think the WO would be able to attract pilots even with those leaving for the flow to keep up staffing.

I'm sure Compass pilots wouldn't agree with your sentiment. PSA will never fly the 175, and I don't think Piedmont will either. Despite the fact that AAG seems to be propping up the WOs and doing what they can to shift the flying towards them to help them keep attracting new hires, there will still be a benefit to having a diversified group of carriers fly their regional feed for them. I just think they don't want as many non WOs flying that feed in the long term.

That rumor has been around for quite a while. I'll believe it when I see it. AA seems to have its WOs do all of the flying from the Midwest eastward and non-WOs do the west coast lift. I do think that Envoy will eventually take all of the Republic AA flying and probably start picking up slack from Mesa sooner than later. I think Piedmont is going to get the TSA and ASA 50-seat flying, while PSA continues to pick up AWAC's slack and perhaps eventually some of Mesa's flying. But I can see that going to SkyWest or Envoy before PSA.
I think the latest SKW earnings had a blurb about dual class airplanes (-700's), going to DFW to replace the -200s which were extended through fall 2017. They did not say which side of SKW would get them ASA or SKW.

It's pretty tough to get the 175 right?
It's being assigned to new hires, current FOs can not bid jet to jet (left over provision from when we had turboprops and the company doesn't seem to have any desire to change it).

So it sounds like new hires get better pay and QOL on the 175 and won't have to deal with all the negative info being passed along from the other FO's? Unless reserve is still years on the 175....but I read someone say it's not bad on 175.

That's very thoughtful of you. /s This is a general topics thread, dude.

Envoy and Endeavor seem to in a competition for talent! One raises the stakes, the other quickly matches it.

Im liking it. Two rumors going around right now 1) Delta didn't outright deny the possibility of a flow in the future during the last union meeting 2) company might roll the bonus into our normal pay, meaning I could absolutely kill it picking up open time at premium pay.

A guy can fantasize can he not?!

I'm wondering how high compensation is realistically going to go. Is it crazy to think a regional FO may see $70,000 or even $75,000 their first year?

As long as second/third/fourth year FOs still make more than first year FOs, and captains get a relative pay bump too, I hope so!
Perhaps. But I think most regionals figure that once they snag pilots with these bonuses, they'll have them for at least 2 years. I do think that CA pay is going to have to go up to stem attrition in the next couple years.

If Delta rolls the bonus's into the hourly rate at what point does it make sense just to take new hires into the CS series at a lower payscale and put them at mainline.

There's a lot more to compensation than pay. Even if they gave Endeavor the Delta 900 rates, the total cost of compensation would still be lower. Lower 401k costs, lower healthcare costs, no profitsharing cost. Less restrictive labor rules at the regional level vs mainline, etc...

I just went back and did the math on what I made on year 1 at 9E, as I just finished it. Just a hair over 70K as an FO is real hard to complain about.

It's official. ASA is keeping the DFW flying.

"ExpressJet Airlines is pleased to announce a new agreement with American Airlines to fly 12 CRJ700s out of Dallas. The deal is a two-year capacity purchase agreement that will replace the CRJ200s coming off contract. The first five aircraft will go on line in February 2017, followed by five more in April and the final two in July."

Good news for the lifers at ASA I suppose, although it isn't a net gain of any sort, just replacing 200s with 700s. 2 years doesn't seem very long though. Where did the 700s come from?

Management no longer wants long term deals especially in this climate as it ties you into rates. Long term contracts really hosed the regional industry in the past. ExpressJet has already taken airplanes from one legacy and employed them elsewhere with someone who would pay more money.

There is no scope room for more airplanes unless they come from someone else, so no real growth available. Even PSA growth is having to come at the expense of Envoy. At some point their costs will balance out and PSA won't get any more growth.

Also, good news for non lifers as it means more money (-700 rates are higher than -200 rates), and the possibility of upgrades eventually.

On a side note, I flew with another CRJ FO hired by a legacy last trip. No TPIC time. The irony that many senior captains can't get interviews.

Yea, Envoy is a lot more top-heavy than PSA as far as the seniority of their pilots is concerned. It will be quite a while before that happens. And there are millions in cost saving to be realized by having an airline essentially operate 1 type of aircraft.

And it really is a shame. PSA has been a "life raft" of sorts for people from all over the industry. A lot of ComAir pilots are here. Some of those pilots have thousands of hours of TPIC, clean records, no criminal history and no checkride busts, 4 year degree, check airman etc on their resume and can't get a call. Meanwhile we just had a 25 year old FO just get hired at Delta.

Yeah. I'm not bitter about it, but it makes me scratch my head at times. I think one of the lessons learned w/ "The Miracle on the Hudson" was that a varied flying background gives you wealth of experience to draw from when the dung hits the fan.

Comair pilots... well, I think there are many pilots at DAL who are still a little bitter about their post 9/11 actions. Not sure if it has an impact on their getting hired there.
