AS hiring heads up

It says 1 year of 121 dx experience preferred, is that truly optional (I. e. not "required") ?

I know in the past Hawaiian had dispatch listings that said they preferred previous experience but they actually meant it was mandatory.

I would assume that without at least a year experience you wouldn't be competitive.

Technically not mandatory, but I would imagine that if you came to them without DX experience they would want to see significant experience elsewhere that would impress them...

1 year 121 is the minimum preferred, what do you guys think the outlook would be for someone with that minimum? I'm not in dispatch yet, but just trying to get a sense of what type of progression to expect once I get my certificate. Would a dispatcher with one year of experience (working for a regional) likely be blown out of the water by more experienced applicants, or could you expect to be competitive?

4, with possible preference to those at VX

Yeah, it's four openings, but I'm not sure where this VX preference idea would come from...it's doubtful any VX dispatchers would even apply considering they already have some kind of seniority there that would integrate one way or another (assuming the deal gets DOJ approval).

Cool, more for me!

Sorry to hear. How long did that take? I just applied...

I've been checking the AS website every morning since June. Same thing with QX, VX, UA, AA, DL, and NK. Was just a matter of time before the floodgates opened - and I happened to have access to my laptop within 2 hours of the posting going live. Right place, right time.

WELP. As the ACARS signoff goes, ...............Shake and Bake.

Just gonna keep on plugging away. Review your regs! Stay fresh. The day you feel comfortable is the day you become complacent.

I'm really sorry you guys got TBNT'd. It really makes you wonder what they're looking for. I have not yet received a TBNT and I applied on Sunday. I've only got just over a year of part 121 (US/Canada), but I've got a pilot's license, just moved into a supervisor position and I'm teaching Dispatcher ground school. I know these "extras" don't hurt, but I can't imagine why they'd keep a 1-year guy in the mix and send a TBNT to a 3-year guy. No news is good news, I guess. Fingers crossed!
