Skywest Questions

Wow, very impressive. That's way more than I studied and I still got the job (I do my CTP next week then CRJ ground school starts 9/5). Perhaps because I didn't do the cadet program, but none of the systems/technical questions they asked me were specific to any one aircraft. The only things that were aircraft specific were the questions about the electrical system I drew (DA-42).

In addition to 91.175, I would add to make sure you study up on reading TAFs/METARs and determining when alternates are needed. And don't forget to be familiar with Jeppesen charts, en route and approach.
Yeah I've seen some gouges on the weather. I was told that some YouTube videos had great stuff for Jepp plates so I'll get that done. Did they ask alternates just 123 rule or no IAP and 800/2 + 600/2? Or is there a different 121 reg I should look at?

Much respect to you for preparing the way that you are for the interview.

However, your going to get the job, I just talked to a captain who conducts interviews, they hired a Guy with 2 DUI's on his record. They recommended not to hire him but upper management overruled it and hired him. Point being, they are hiring every pilot they they can.

Best of luck to you.

It was "here's a TAF, you arrive at this time, do you need an alternate?" kind of stuff, so 1-2-3 rule applied. Then for alternate weather it was a discussion of derived minimums (adding 400-1 or 200-1/2, what's necessary for the weather to be at if you need a second alternate and what's the weather there need to be) and also a discussion about PROB/TEMPO/BECMG. Also takeoff minimums and how to determine if a takeoff alternate is needed. While the electrical systems was very much just question and answer, the guy interviewing me very much made the weather portion a discussion and a lot more situational and scenario based. When it came to the Jepps, approach plates I had no problems with, I totally goofed on some of the en-route stuff though mostly from my own nervousness and lack of sleep from the night before, although I will admit I had no clue about the MEA gap symbol as it just wasn't one I was familiar with.

Looks like we will be in the same class.

Like everything else, crew pay tab

Yeah but that's not perfect either, I've made more calls to crew pay in the last couple months than in the last year total.

As for tcco94, stop worrying and be yourself in the interview...If you've done well as an aviator and have a clean record then that shouldn't be an obstruction, nowadays the concern is how well you'll handle yourself on a 4-day with a crusty senior captain. As Giggidy mentioned we're hiring everyone that meets mins and fogs a mirror, but you should at least have a personality to keep yourself a viable candidate.
