Asking for the jumpseat and other lost traditions

Bull sh#t, He was going to pull rank on another commuting pilot who wasn't a member of his sh#tty little AA club, #5 got cleared for the cockpit, and given the 15 prior time frame, I assume was handed a boarding pass with his name on it, had gone down to introduce himself to the PIC and ask permission to ride the jumpseat. Probably was accommodated by said PIC, only then to be approached by our fearless protagonist and told "you can't ride the jumpseat on "my aircraft" you see I'm "mainline" and we "OWN THIS AIRCRAFT AND WE HAVE PRIORITY ON ALL JUMPSEATS"
The PIC decision doesn't matter, I'm in the jumpseat and my FA buddy is in the main cabin, you can catch the next flight friend, expecting #5 to tuck tail and walk the wrong way in a jetbridge while trying to get to work.

All this so our intrepid aviator can then do was seems to happen every time I'm behind them while they are #1 at the hold short line, " uhh, tower, we're still waiting on numbers" Dip sh#ts.

Have a nice day.

If trying to abide by company jumpseat policy is "pulling rank" then yea, that's what I was doing. There was a question of whether or not the agent followed the right protocol. If they did, fine. If they didn't I would expect to not get the jumpseat if I was the OAL guy. I've been removed by people with higher priority than me before. It happens. I wish I had this awesome ability to dictate who sits in the jumpseat that you speak of. That would help me out a lot trying to get back and forth to work.

You seem to be so keen to judge 16,000 AA pilots. Who do you work for? Oh right, you're not going to tell us.

I'm so glad waiting for numbers makes you so upset. We always get them when we push but all 16,000 AA pilots know when you're behind us in line and we just like to mess with you.

Go pet a dog or something.

Who's we? You're missing the point Weasel. You seem to have trouble comprehending the simplest of matters, emotions are not needed to identify a tool, the facts alone speak to this.
What part of pulling rank do you not understand.

Pulling rank by following Jumpseat policy? I think I speak for most when I say, WTF are you talking about? If you're offline, you don't have a right to the Jumpseat, and he said the guy was non AA/Eagle. I'm all for getting the most people on, and I've taken the FA Jumpseat to get an offline guy on the Jumpseat before.

I guess I just don't understand your hostility. Bad day? You need a hug?

Every day and twice on Sunday I would take my company-given jumpseat over an OAL without worrying about it. Want higher priority? Come work at the carrier that sets the policy.

Whoa, Ghostrider...the pattern is full. Don't be bitter your entire life.

Nope nope nope.

I would put the proverbial "bullet" in this websites head than let it devolve into an APC or PPW.

Too old, no interest, too many other places to play presumption of anonimity/"my (internet) cock is bigger than you realize"

One consistent message about JC "I still go there because it isn't like_________" and I intend to maintain that until it's time to take Old Bessie out to pasture and put a bullet in her head.

I mean that. I do.

That's why we love you.

So what's the problem then? Why did you post this scenario in the first place? what was your quandary? The agent put you in a crummy position because you will have to tell #5 your playing musical chairs? or, you're in a crummy position because because now you have to tell the agent that they don't know how to do their job and set them straight with Priority.

You don't work for that regional that you were bumming a ride on, you mainline types seem to forget this fact all to often, It's not your place to tell #5, you would be right to tell the gate agent the boarding priority was mishandled and let them fix it.

I work for Compass and I'm looking forward to meeting you.

"D'awwwwww the captain's mad! Isn't he just precious? D'awwwwww! He's grumpy! Oh yes he is! OHHHHHHH yes he is!" *tickle*

I'd just like to point out the fact that the nAAtives have treated me very well, and gone out of their way to help me get to work and back...even as the lowly regional airline, commuting, pigboy scum that I am.
Thanks everybody!
:)
