Avgirl; I think it's strange we both starting posting at the same time, there's already such a large disparity in the post count, and only one of us wants to be a career pilot.
I pretty much kill threads and I think that's because you have to build a reputation on JC and I don't really have one yet. I encourage you to look at the one you're building. I've lurked here a long time, and I've had a lot of one sided arguments with Seggy, but I always read his posts and consider his arguments. I think he's made a pretty convincing one here.

Oh I looked at it. The writer doesn't care enough about their work that they won't even post their name. This is an issue that goes much deeper than one party. This is one fight of many that are currently going on to protect good paying jobs in our country. Why don't you support NAI or have you not dug deep enough into that one? You and I are arguing last each other on this. I do not live in Atlanta and I'm sorry to see the Fox Theatre lose its sponsorship funding. Maybe the board should reevaluate the events that take place at their location.

That opinion is a new thread. This one is simply about the gate. It's sweet of you to be sorry about the loss of funding, but those quotes were from the AJC. Politics doesn't belong with sponsorships, especially in this case.

I don't see any other missed posts, so I think there is nothing more to talk about with this issue. Thanks for having a productive conversation. :)

Umm, you do realize this thread is posted in the the "Airline Pilots" section, right? You might be concerned about the local economy (which, btw, I think will be just fine, as well as the Fox Theatre) but everyone else here is concerned about the entire U.S. airline industry. Don't be surprised that they are giving their opinions about a legitimate threat to their "Airline Pilot" career.

I lived in Atlanta for over 20 years and still have a house outside Atlanta. So I do care about Atlanta, @mastermags lives downtown and is very active in the community.

Community Partnerships go both ways. It was/is nice that Delta was sponsoring the Fox Theater, it is an important part of Atlanta history. If the Fox Theater is going to take Delta's money than they have to realize that when they are doing business with somebody by proxy Delta is doing business with that person. Now would Delta ever do business with Qatar? I don't think so. Better yet would Delta ever do business with Akbar Al Baker? Hell no. The Fox had to know this.


My mom spent most of her working years working for nonprofits in Atlanta. Can I ask you what nonprofit you sit on the board for? You can PM me.

You get the Qatar deal in the short term, you lose the Delta deal in the long term. Close the deal on the 1 Bed/1.5 Bath condo and lose the deal on the whole building, or sell the whole building but lose the deal on the condo? :)

I misread that at first and had a chuckle at the idea of a foreign government trying to do anything to a US citizen.

It’s ironic that he’s mentioning “old and frail people” having to walk up “very large steps to get to the terminal” as a violation of the air-services agreement. At his airline’s hub, Doha’s Hamad International Airport, plenty of planes have to board and deplane at remote stands using stairs. What about the “old and frail” people there, Your Excellency?

Loss of translation or not, what an arrogant little •. I'd love for him to call my grandmother "old and frail." 93 years old and she'd beat his ass in.
To expand upon the idea of handicapped access without jetbridges, it sucks coordinating wheelchairs/crutches/electric wheelchairs/mobile units/buses/whatever. Why do I say this? Because 10 wheelchair-assists go in at the origin, and 0 come out at the destination.

I'm pretty far from Atlanta in a number of ways, so I was curious about the Fox Theater. While browsing through articles about the Delta Sponsor Ship (Air Lines) I found the following;
