Skywest Questions

Skywest peeps... Can I axe you a question??? (three ??? for @Derg, well and a few beers;))

Sooooooo.... anyways, on the Skywest APC profile there is a note about a bonus for current Part 135 experience. Truth? Yes, No, Maybe so? Please Confirm, Over?
Please say Yes? Thanks homeboys, back to beer. ;)

Not sure how I'd know anything about Skywest besides @Autothrust Blue being OPA.

No truth at all. We're actually overstaffed. No reason to incentivize something that really doesn't transfer to Part 121 flying.

We lost 60 pilots in Feb and we're still fat. Source: Was at HQ today and got the skinny on all things QoL, pilots leaving and pilot hiring.

Fat on the 175.... CRJ is still understaffed from what I understand. Hence the "bypassed" CRJ to ERJ transitions due to company need.

Thanks for the heads up. Didn't want to believe without confirming. Bummer, a bonus sounded good.

Awesome! Have fun, man!

Yeah I searched high and low. No bonus for prior 121 or 135 experience as far as I can find. E-175, or CL-65 type will get you a $7,500 bonus as far as I know.
Anyone know if the $7500 hiring bonus at Skywest is only for previously typed applicants? Or is it offered to all new hires? Can seem to find the answer on the interwebz. There's nothing on their website about it, only shows in their online ads.

Also, how much can I make first year? I'm guessing 30 k. The bonus would certainly help though.

Thanks
According to the APC page there is, but I'd be surprised if their info is 100% correct.

There was, at least at one point, a $7,500 bonus for being typed and current in pretty much any RJ or the Q. 121 only.

True. It's cyclical. With the majors continuing to hire, and take people at the rate that they are, it is unrealistic for the airline to try to predict staffing levels. The CRJ "shortage" is simple; pilots who have had their apps out with the majors passed on the opportunity to transition to the ERJ in favor of focusing on making the move to the majors. A lot of those guys have been picked up. Additionally, pilots who needed one or two checks in the box (Training Captain, Check Airman) transitioned to the ERJ, got those checks and have moved on or are moving on.

SkyWest had no idea that we would lose people at the rate that we are. Again, there's a degree of unpredictability with this and the company is plugging holes. As of February, we had stopped 175 classes and were filling CRJ classes. Not sure what the status is today on the 175 classes.

Losing 60 people in a month is the highest number of pilots that SkyWest has ever lost in one month. It simply can't be planned for.

It actually can be planned for, but I don't think anyone really expected it to be this severe, really; I am myself surprised at my relative advancement systemwide even if I'll never, ever bid above 50% here in SFO. The churn is really "elsewhere" - a lot of people are happy where they are on the west coast, and aren't going anywhere for various and sundry reasons.

I wouldn't be surprised to see @Autothrust Blue end his Brazillian streak in another month or two.
