I just saw/read this thread. Congrats Joe!!! All the stagnation, the wondering what to do, the interviews, the waiting (and man, have you waited! lol) the angst of trying to figure out what to do and when......well it's all been worth it now.

I can't think of this opportunity happening to a nicer guy, who has sincerely paid his dues and then some and who really deserves this position.

What a fricking relief, eh?

I am so happy for you, man. Good luck.......you are certainly on your way to much bigger things now. About damn time.

You're going to love the Whale. I mean you will really fall in love with her. She's a terrific, responsive, reliable, and forgiving gal. I think this is just marvelous! All my best------Gerry

The new office........enjoy her!

Thanks Gerry!

It's not a relief yet because it hasn't really sunk in. Tomorrow when I walk off the CRJ for the last time it might become a little bit more real, but until then I'll keep logging into the computer based training they assigned me just to make sure it's real.

I don't deserve this chance over anyone else. There are thousands of us out here that are perfectly qualified and capable, the hard part is just getting the chance to prove that. Thankfully I have lots of friends that went to bat for me and helped make it happen. That's what this community is about and I hope I'll get the chance to make a difference once I get established with the company!

It was your turn Joe. Simple as that. I know there are lots of pilots struggling, trying to move on and many of them are also deserving. It's just what most everyone goes through these days. It's luck, it's networking, it's your resume, it's your background and experience, it's extracurricular activities, it's how you dress, it's right time/ right place/ right fit, it's the interview, it's so many, many things.

You need to celebrate and yes.......you deserve to celebrate. You and your wife whoop it up, man. As for a helping hand down the road.....I would expect no less of you. You're a decent man.

And what this thread really says, is that it's a damn marathon out there, folks. The sprint days are long gone. It's an endurance race now. Stay the course, keep plugging, don't doubt yourself or your abilities and don't limit yourself. THAT job is out there. Do everything in your power to get that job and don't quit or give up until you do.

P.S. It just has tickled my old tired ass so much to learn you will be sitting in my former love. Made my day. :) My buddy Len and his wife are here with us for several weeks from Sydney. He retired off the 744 last year at Qantas. Put a grin on his old mug too. lol Got us reminiscing. Great days, damn great days.

You'll do some of the best flying of your life/career in that bird. (sigh - still tugs my heart some)

@Polar742

If you pay for a beer in the next decade, that person who made you do so is banned for life.

A personal "Thank You".

Thank you. I'm both impressed and heavily jealous of your success in "paying it forward".

I'm a little slow and/or outside the inner circle... What does this mean??

That bastard has been way more successful at my game than I am.

And that's awesome.

Who else is up to the @Polar742 "Get Folks Onboard" challenge? :)

I can't necessarily take that challenge. But I'd be more than happy to be the guinea pig for whoever (whomever?) does accept!

It was their resumes, their tenacity, their desire, their time.

Stop being modest. You are the straight Ari Gold of the aviation world.

I might be the koombayah Deepak Chopra, but you're making stuff happen, with jealous regularity.

Seriously, thank you for helping good people. Your beer, scotch and Basil Hayden bourbon money is no flipping good. Forever.
