All the responsibility none of the authority
This thread is a perfect example -- I have no idea what it means.
Does it mean that Polar got a job somewhere, and shouldn't buy beer because he's a new guy at another employer?
Does it mean that Polar assisted another person in getting a job at his shop, and is a super bro because this third party is a good dude, too?
I'd love to congratulate both someone who made it somewhere, as well as reward guys who pay it forward: both are reasons why JC is great.
I just have no f'n idea what this thread (nor the other litany of "congratulations to someone" threads) mean because apparently I'm not connected enough outside of this forum to know these details. It is hard to share in someone's joy when you have no idea who it is or what it is for.
Basically, I did what anyone else would do. Nothing special. I have written letters of rec, answered questions and provided support to friends.
Right now 4 of them are somewhere past the "we received" your resume process at my shop. I know them solely because of JC and have gotten to know them over the course off the last 8 years.
Now, why don't people come out and say? A lot of things can happen.
Perhaps they're in the pool and announce it. Maybe their employer fires them. They have no set class date. Could be next week, could be next year. Maybe another calamity occurs and we stop hiring. And of course the random emails from people you've never met asking for recs.
Maybe that person is nervous about going and not making it through the program.
Nothing is official until it's Facebook official.
Again, I'm kind of embarrassed because while @Derg made this thread about me, it's really not. I guarantee I haven't done anything most anyone else wouldn't do.
The focus should be on the individuals that have received a long overdue look. Their perseverance with the industry caused this post, not me.
