What does substantiation look like for that, anyway?
Exactly! Will a simple doctors note be ok? Or will your wife need to give up HER HIPAA rights to a place she doesn't even work or is insured by?

Well, she might, hypothetically, be insured by the Company or through the Company's health plan. That does not, or should not necessarily effect the employer-employee relationship.Exactly! It wasn't rhetorical--I'm legitimately curious as to how that went down (as you alluded to) at United.
Nuts of bolts of it was (before my time), we sued as we didn't think it was being complied with, we won.
She also may not be insured by the company or their health plan. My wife has her own insurance and my kid is under her plan. So they really have no connection to my insurance. Why should they give up their HIPAA rights if I use a state mandated law?
I don't think it should.Nuts of bolts of it was (before my time), we sued as we didn't think it was being complied with, we won.

And those that think calling in 4 times in a 365 day period is a lot, you're either super human or, as others have said, don't have kids. I think it should just be automatic that you have a kid, you get intermittent FMLA for those days someone is gonna have to stay home with them.
And will you be allowed to return to work while waiting on the "verification?"Exactly! Will a simple doctors note be ok? Or will your wife need to give up HER HIPAA rights to a place she doesn't even work or is insured by?
Ahh, pilots who think they know HIPAA better than ALPA attorneys. Classic.
Even if it is within HIPAA law, Anderson has blown so much smoke up the Delta Pilot's asses on how great they are, that they are TIER 1, and that they are the world class of the world class, why does he have such a hard on for if they are sick or not? Shouldn't he realize that a small majority may be causing the issue and they should be dealt with from their Tier 1 counterparts?
I disagree. Having a child does not entitle an individual to special benefits if those who do not have children aren't granted the same. Probably an unpopular opinion but life choices have consequences. And those that think calling in 4 times in a 365 day period is a lot, you're either super human or, as others have said, don't have kids. What would you think if you were in his position and you watched your sick leave costs skyrocket after contract '12?
That's nice, but...I disagree. Having a child does not entitle an individual to special benefits if those who do not have children aren't granted the same. Probably an unpopular opinion but life choices have consequences.
Derg said:Presumptive. We have a much older pilot group after 2012. Remember most folks over the age of 50 that had 25 years in jumped ship lickety split after 2001 and again during bankruptcy because of the dissolution of the defined benefit program. Merger with NWA happens, a group that largely kept their DB program in place that didn't have the exodus of "more senior" pilots. Old people break down more. I know. I are one. We're older, work more and work longer. 66.49 years then, on average, we're dead.
