SeaPort Airlines.....

What are the current mins and requirements for SeaPort? Their website doesn't list anything other than having 500 TT.

I just finished ground school with SeaPort, I'm waiting on flight training now. 500TT is always preferred but go ahead and submit your application, folks are getting interviews under the preferred time.

Before any of you accept a pilot position with SeaPort please PM me. Theres a few things you should know.
For those who like a good read, why don't you just post them here?

My union rep was a captain at SeaPort for a couple years based in MEM... he had some pretty good stories. Said the lifers there are lifers because of their DUI status!

If it is a crap operation by an airline doing a public conveyance, I don't see why not in public!

Seaport Mgmt is saying in the news articles i read that they have a pilot shortage. That it is to blame for certain route closing. Yet from what I'm reading online fourms they are getting plenty of qualified applicants for the FO position. They're not calling applicants back....

So i'm very confused & perplexed.

Any insight or info would be great as im considering.

Without an autopilot...

Hard to keep captains when regionals offer much better quality of life and career advancement opportunities. Especially with them hiring right at the 1500 TT mark.

So seaport gets a whopping 300 hrs out of these captains once they make 135 ifr mins? Same thing happens at mokulele: FO for 8 months , capt for 4 then off to mesa, skywest. Oh well, that's the name of the game I suppose. I think they do it to themselves. But for the leadership to proclaim a shortage of talent causes decreased services obfuscates the true reason.

It all has to do with the current hiring environment.

If a stagnant hiring period happens again (like it was a few year ago), then 135 carriers like SeaPort and Mokulele won't have problems with a shortage of pilots.

However, with there appearing to be no end in sight to the current hiring trend, these 135 carriers are only at the tip of the problem.

Applicants like me, desperate for work. But hey, the medium is the message. There are no supply-side issues obviously. The cream just keeps getting skimmed off the top and it's a pain in the neck if you're trying to run a (questionable) business!!

SeaPort is currently hiring FO's but yes they also need CA's as well. As far as staffing goes, there's so many factors (and I speak in general) because it's not just happening at SeaPort, it's affecting everyone. It's a domino effect "food chain" effect of the lack of GA guys pursuing flying as a career to everyone taking everyone from flight schools, charters, regionals, majors. The demand will always be in aviation, the supply is questionable.

If regionals paid FO's $40K there would still be hiring issues at Part 135 operations... So pick your poison if your a Pt 135 operator.

Only thing to solve that is a Part 135 bridge program (pathway to Regional carrier) :D.

Might just be me but I can't see why a 135 would create a bridge program for a 121 regional. From my understanding not all 135 pilots are using it as a time builder to go to 121 and there aren't lots of 135 carriers that even need FO's....especially with wet commercial certs. or low hours like 500. Most of these 135's want just under 121 mins (and above rATP mins).

Just doesn't make sense for a company to do that, especially a pilot to do that...imo.
