Delta Disqualifiers

They're already flying Delta flights. Until that changes, this argument is ludicrous.

I had a 500 word essay on this very subject posted eariler and then deleted it... Thanks for saying in few words in which took me many!!! This fact is probably the ulitmate kick in the junk to every regional pilot out there who can't get an interview at any mainline carrier. WE ALREADY FLY YOUR PEOPLE!!!!

I'm not the one you have to convince. I'm not sure why some can't understand this.

The people that own the jets make that decision and make the rules. If I drop by the office and say "Blar blar INTERNET OPINION blarrrr" I'm most likely going to be directed to leave immediately.

I think what many are failing to understand is that if you want to
complain about the system and get sympathy, this ain't the place.

No, it's not fair. Everyone has a reason why THEY should be at the top of the heap. Unfortunately, the gatekeepers have their own ideas and they are all that matter.

Play the game or don't. In the short time I've been here, I've learned that you'll get no sympathy. Personally, I corner my best friend, fill up on Dark 'n Stormies, and let it all out. Then in morning, I take two advil and ask myself "What can I do today?"...

It's all I can do...

Well, you can get angry and frustrated or try to understand the situation and work with/around it. I could rabble/rabble/rabble all day and get nowhere.

Besides, we're locked out of the system as well. I can't get a guy an interview to save my life. Neither can a lot of line check airmen.

I can be angry about that and get nowhere. Or I can try to understand it and at least try to get what little information I have out to the general public.

This....if you want to shake your fist at the sky and yell at God "give me justice", well, He ain't listening.

You need to engage, stay engaged and make your own luck. You'll see people around you, less qualified, and their mother's dress them funny, and they'll get hired before you. If that drives you over the edge, this ISN'T the game for you.

Some people just get the good deals. Fact of life. You can try to join them, or not. Your choice.

If you want to not get hired, make sure you say this in your interview. They've heard it before, but it's not a sound statement.

The fact is that it doesn't matter due to the variance of hiring standards (and other standards) at the regionals. The outsourced flying is being significantly reduced after the company and the union have finally come to terms that bubble was a bad idea. That whole model is on the verge of absolute collapse.

It is not an unknown fact that the guys that have the hardest time in the schoolhouse in general are the single seat fighter guys. However, they sure as heck try the hardest and are generally filled with raw talent- it's just a big adjustment. Crew cockpit, jepps, airline... that's all new to them. They'll be fine after a bit.

The regional guys that make the cut generally coast through with few issues. With that being said, the only guys that I know of that have been canned due to repeat issues have been regional.

This has been the weirdest thing to me since the latest wave of hiring began. Up through 2010, you could really have a chance based on who you knew or being a legacy. Both seemed to have overwhelming odds and now it appears to have completely stopped. While I appreciate the "we don't want to show favoritism" idea, why would you not want to bring on people that high ranking known quality southernjet pilots recommend? Same for legacy. If I have gotten to know and really sold myself to someone who has climbed the ladder at said airline, then a little weight being thrown around should count for something. That's how the game is played. It seems like currently, the better connections you have, the less it gets you because, again they don't want to show favoritism or even appear to do so. But, just so you don't have to repeat it...I know, "their planes and their airline, they can do what they want."

Guys, you must have to work really, really hard at being miserable. LOL! Being happy is extremely easy. Whether you work at your dream airline, an airline you hate, or you're collecting trash, here's the trip know to happiness:

Sleep in when you can.

Have frequent sex.

Choose good beer and wine.

Hang around with people that are happy.

If you do these things, you'll be alright.

don't kid yourself.....relatively speaking maybe, but no regional has very high standards these days.
1500/pulse was not the standard that the FAA should have had in mind, but it's what's happened.

(I remain fairly tight-fisted about who I do and do not refer, and I can tell you sometime about who I did and did not send along from NJC over cold beer. I'm doing my part on this topic.)

Yaaaay! We fixed it. Not.

Honestly though, what does that have to do with the guy who has been there 5-10-15 years, and proven himself to be reliable, and competent enough? And if I'm good enough to fly your passengers on a "Connection" flight, I should be good enough to do it on a mainline flight. After all, I am representing the company who gives it's the flying.
