Just heard that he put one down in the golf course off the end of 21 in SMO.

He was a very good pilot, very safety minded. I had met him earlier during a EAA event where everyone was avoiding sitting next to him during the briefing.
During the AOPA shoot that I worked on that he was 'starring' in he called off the in the air portion of the shoot because of an equipment malfunction. I was very lucky to have been able to spend the day with him shooting the breeze about aviation.
Glad to see that he is going to be ok and that his training kicked in when he lost his engine.
My belief that being a good stick could keep you from being killed in an airplane died with Scott Crossfield. Hoping for the best - he's a great ambassador for aviation![]()
