The question we might want to ask ourselves is "Who created these "dues" so many seem to accept as ancient and unquestionable truths etched into stone tablets and handed down from the distant murky past of the... 1990s?" Other questions might be: What do we get BY paying them? and What do get FOR paying them?

Fresno has long been the junior base for the Brasilia. With the Bro going away, it will be a middle seniority jet base. It's a fairly small base (only about 20 crews on the jet), which doesn't help. Currently to hold FAT on the jet takes 9 months to a year. Much more senior than LAX and SFO, go figure.

@Crop Duster I agree that a lot of newer generation pilots have just accepted it, in return for higher pay down the road and a seat in a mainline airplane, which looking back at the past 10-15yrs we see that thats not always promised. Doesn't mean its right, when you look at how how much you paid for your ticket. Personally I don't know if I can afford to go to a regional. I may end up trying to go to a fractional instead.

Lots of lifers. There are a handful of people who actually WANT to be there, for reasons that completely evade me. Just looking down at the place on the way into SFO today made me go "egh."

Paying your dues is another way of saying building your qualifications and acquiring the skill set necessary to be an airline captain.

Maybe it was answered and I missed it.. I know ExpressJet junior base for the CRJ is Atlanta.. what about the EMB?
How quickly can you get Houston?
 
if DEN closes do you think IAH will become more junior or senior?
Also, why is DEN closing? Because of TSA taking over there?
