Mesa Airlines

Be careful with this mentality, it is what has killed this industry over the decades. When and where does it stop?

Oh, I agree completely that if an airline is going to require iPads to be used as EFBs then the company should pay for them.

Despite that, there is a certain amount of BS that I am willing to accept before I walk away. In the end the advantages of being based close to home with a growing company outweigh the cost of a electronic device I was planning on buying anyway.

I understand, get your time and get out and be careful. I have better things to do than get into a Mesa bashing fight but I have two close friends over there and they constantly tell me that the union there isn't your friend and will sell you out to the company in a heartbeat. Good Luck.

Do they make you buy that too?

Company sponsored? You mean they don't make you pay for your own hotel rooms?

OKAY dude we get it, you don't care for Mesa. But the OP was asking for information about the company and what to expect as a new hire. Some of us here are trying to help and you are acting like a complete buffoon. A quick search of your profile reveals that you don't even work for Mesa and your juvenile posts in this thread are solid proof that you can contribute absolutely nothing of value. Save your smart @$$ comments for another thread please.

Highspeeds where the crews would sleep on the plane were popular back in the day. Ive been gone for years, but honestly Mesa is like most regionals, it is what you make of it. If you go in with your expectations fairly low you won't be let down. The employees really do bust their asses though. Alot of great folks at that operation.

I hit a nerve?

If something is not considered a norm people should be told. Unfortunately the regional industry has turned for the worse and people are getting frustrated.

Jeppesen, being the scam that they are, charges the same amount per user whether you have paper charts or an electronic version.

True but any injury issues along with retraining costs (on medical leave too long) due to paper charts disappear thus saving the company money. I also would imagine shipping costs for paper would also play a role.

The fuel savings would also help them be more competitive.

I personally wouldn't want to have my $500+ tablet in a work environment where it could easily get damaged. I also wouldn't want to have to buy an item I would never use on a personal level.

Sucks I had to buy a $100 flight case to haul my Jepps but it will likely last longer than an iPad. Already 1.5 years old and shows minimal wear.

I'd be more proud of a 7 year old Honda than a 1 year old Kia.

Honestly, it would depend on the model.

The Kia Cadenza is a pretty sweet ride. Certainly an option for when I get bored with my current vehicle.

That said, Kia Optimia in SXL trim or any Cadenza is gonna be > any Honda ((USDM available)).
