AA (and Eagle) Uniforms

So, not to be a • McGee, but how do you tell from a distance that these folks are crew members? Are hats going to be required, orare we solely relying on the wings as the way to pick them apart?

I think the military style sweaters with epaulets would be sharp. Wish those were a consideration.

I have a sneaking suspicion that hats will be mandatory just by the road they are going down. I don't see what the big deal is to be honest, as long as it's a decent quality hat and not their current version. I'm going to push hard for Premier Hat Co to be supplying them.

The Airways uniform was in shambles after numerous bankruptcies and folks just not caring. It really needs to be worn better.

I think that leather jacket is rather sharp. Clean lines. Doesn't scream "I'm a pilot! Worship meeeeeeeeee!"

(I keed, I keed,)

Putting a subtle embroidered company logo on it would be cool - in a dark thread, y'know? Not too large...stealthy. Understated.

Color is ok, but I'd like to keep my collared shirt and tie thank you. Many other ladies may not agree, but I prefer to look as similar in dress as I can to my male counterparts.

And good luck getting any v-neck shirt to fit without gaping and revealing more than many are comfortable with while at work. Now wtf am I going to do with all these acutabove shirts?!

You know I don't blame you, I think the traditional uniform looks really good on the ladies anyway. Regarding the V-neck, I've never seen anything like that anywhere before.

I think from a heritage standpoint, a leather jacket should always have a place amongst an aviator's uniform items, regardless of actual utility or necessity. I think the same of a good watch (although many folks' definition of "good watch" varies sgnificantly).

I think they look pretty good in general except for that formless FA dress in the middle of the three dresses. I think the non-pilot uniforms might blend into airport crowds a bit though, not really stand out as an airline brand. I think a more classic pilot leather jacket looks better than this new slick, skinny leather jacket style too. Pilots should wear a jacket that looks like a pilot jacket, with practical pockets and such.

So this may be a stupid question... But are pilots at the airlines allowed to have their own uniforms made? I'm pretty hard on clothing (and just about everything else) so I'm wondering if it wouldn't be a good idea to just have a couple pairs of pants made that will match the issued uniforms but are made of a better material? (Bad memories of splitting the seam of my pants climbing into the seat of a King Air come to mind :tinfoil:)

I purchase all of my uniform pieces exclusively from an outside vendor. Then I get it tailored even further for a slim, proper fit. I don't touch anything company issued.

Can anyone recommend an outside vendor as a good starting point? And is the difference between the non-issued and issued uniforms that noticeable?
