Ameriflight

I didn't think PA31 training was too bad, and I came in with very little airplane time in the previous 18 months. It was fast paced, but as long as you have your head on straight, pay attention and study at least a little, it's not bad. Don't know about the 99, and the 1900 was very much the same.

If you have a good basic IFR skill set then training shouldn't be very hard. The problems come when someone has a weak scan, or situational awareness issues generally. There is a lot to know and do that AMF has to teach and train on which leaves very little time to teach and practice basic IFR stuff. Most people that fail out do so because they are having to concentrate too hard on flying an approach that they can't remember flows and callouts. Or, focusing on SOP items and forgetting to fly the airplane.

I will say the Metro program has a much better pass rate than in the past. I thought that training was quite good actually. The sim was definitely treated as practice and they put you in it once more right before your checkride. V1 cuts were something I felt weak on and we did those for an hour straight

You're supposed to be solid before you get there I would think. Flight school is over.
I'm glad your crj200 right seat, fully coupled ils, with a flight director and a moving map were easy for you. Were the fms arcs hard? :D
We aren't talking basic airman stuff, we are talking about having a bad day hand flying a level pos sim and getting sent packing.

Words mean things. Now go back a read what I highlighted.
It's cool though, I'm sure your pee pee is bigger than mine you freight dog you.

Nobody knows who has the bigger "peepee", but we do know can actually see theirs.

When you become familiar with Amf training feel free post, until then keep to blue streak training, until then I'll call you out

There was nothing to call out. You took things out of context or read something into it. Inverted answered the post just fine. I honestly don't know why you're all fired up about it.

"Fix deficiencies in your skills and procedures" is what I highlighted and I said, you'd probably better be solid before you get there. Meaning that 135 freight is no place for weak IFR skills.

You chose to read something else into this, not me.

Why so angry? He started posting here to extend a friendly offer to grab a beer with anyone going to the Dayton recruiting event. He never posted inaccurate information.

He was trolling in other forums, however. I believe that it spilled over into this one. He had some bad things to say about all regional pilots.

A little update of info....

Sheri Hudson retired. Dave Hanson has taken over for Sheri. I was hired 7/14 for an August 11 start date. Offered BE99 direct if I would go to CIN, BUF, or OMA. Offered PA31 any west coast. Staying in Phoenix and flying the 31. Pay and QoL. Two most important things in aviation. In this case, I made a QoL decision. PHX is home, and I'm staying here for a while.

ATP mins (+ a little more) for time reference.

I used to fly the -31 out of KPHX for their competitor back in the day, just down the ramp on the north side of the field.

It's a shame Sheri is retiring. She adapted well from going from pilot to the hiring department and had a good eye for finding quality applicants. There were very few she sent to me to interview that didnt do a fantastic job!

I don't have a dog in this fight, nor do I think you're incorrect. However, When one enters single pilot 135, they think they know how to fly make-shift aircraft, in low IFR, having vacuum pumps & engines failing, ect.. Well, in all honesty, they don't. When they leave they have officially conquered instrument "skills and procedures."

Apparently I am not a very good communicator.
The word "deficiency" was used referring to IFR skills and procedures.
All I said was "I would think that you need to be solid before you get there, flight school is over."
Now how anything could be read into that is beyond me. In other words I said, that you need solid IFR skills to become employed in an IRF freight gig. How is that taking a shot at anyone flying freight? If anything its a compliment because I know damn well you guys have mad IFR skills.
Hopefully that clarifies things.

My apologies to eightballfreight when I said that he was trolling in another post. I was mistaking him for someone else. I will let you continue to fight with each other and step out of it.
