Endeavor Flow for new hires

I've had my popcorn out since Jan 1st and this show keeps getting better and better.

A new hire will flow likely before their 30th birthday. Compare that to the Eagle flow, those guys are ~50 years old, if not older, one I talked to was 58 and couldn't decide if he wanted to flow or not.

Great deal for the new hires. Sucks for the guys that were just hired or even those that have been there a while. I'm sure it will attract a whole slew of qualified <1 year guys from other companies, heck I would go if I were in the same position!

Doesn't seem like that great of a deal. 5 years is what I've heard for the first new hire to flow to Delta. I have a feeling that's a best case scenario. Quick upgrade airlines like Compass are a much better deal IMO.

Well 5 years seems like a long time. But do the math. Odds are you are going to spend 5 years at least at a commuter regardless of where you go. Some probably quite a bit longer. Might as well go to a place that offers a flow as well.

Compass upgrade is still going to be what, 2-3 years regardless, and that was for the guys hired back then. Eventually the flows will stop and the upgrades will slow down significantly. Anyone hired now won't see that same quick pace.

Even if you can beat the stated "5 years" by a year (upgrade in 2 years, 2 years as CA), personally, I'd rather take a guaranteed flow to DAL over a captain slot 12 months prior at any other commuter. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

Keep in mind that the Compass pilots eligible for flow-through will eventually be exhausted and at that point the upgrade time will increase asymptotically, as (as far as I know) there is no expansion planned there. Not dispensing haterade, but my usual admonitions about chasing a quick upgrade.

That which is quick for someone hired 2012 will not necessarily be for someone hired in 2014.

Reading some of the materials and There Will Be Blood methinks.

It's like they're doing things to help staffing at a regional for a select few of that particular regional, but effectively throwing a really small piece of fresh meat to a den of hungry lions.

I'm going to read a little more, alert the National Guard and make some popcorn.

I disagree.

To be eligible for this program, you'd have to serve as an Endeavor Captain for 2 years, as well as meet some other requirements. Limited failures, no disciplinary letters, etc. When was the most junior Captain at Endeavor hired? APC says 2008... and currently people are being downgraded. 6 year upgrades and rising. So 8 years minimum to "flow." Also, Delta can cancel the program at any time.

I predict that most people will see through this. They might get a few gullible ones, but I doubt it will be significant.

What's the chance the webmaster can ask for approval to publish the memo itself with FAQs ? Has Endeavor also put out a version under its own letterhead ?

I like the "no disciplinary letters".

That leaves the door wide open to abuse of your employees. Midwest Express used the same thing to keep the Skyway guys in line.

"Ah ah ah! You'll get a letter on your record and you'll never flow! Go fly that broken 1900"
