Just to add, proper pilot backpack etiquette requires the use of only one strap. Two straps does, indeed, look ridiculous.![]()
As long as you guys have rules. Seemed like a free-for-all to me.

Man, it's not Lord of the Flies!
...except when someone punches a grump in the cockpit lav.
Amateur...I love cheeseburgers and tacos! But here's some insider-shizzle. I am the last one in my family that is neither diabetic and (or?) hypertensive. No one else is going to pay me $175/hr to do anything I can do on diuretics or sugar pills so I'm TRYNA stay healthy.
Oh, Todd. There's a whole wide world outside your tiny little bubble.
If you think I'm going to take a spill climbing up and down a ladder one-handed because some JCer says I can't wear a backpack, you're sorely mistaken! It might be difficult to believe, but not everyone strolls down to the airplane via a jetway.![]()
Why would you expect someone to stop you and say something to you in person? As unprofessional as a backpack is, starting a fight in the terminal is even more unprofessional.
I don't know about you all but a general observation.
The guys who describe themselves as "laid back" are never laid back.
"Flaps up"I do everything by the book, and if I don't, let me know.
(giggle)
I'm not talking about the air stairs.I used to commute on UPS constantly. I walked up those rickety stairs with their crews countless times. Can't remember seeing one of them carry a backpack. And I certainly made it up the stairs just fine carrying my stuff.
I'm not talking about the air stairs.
Not gonna argue further. Completely fruitless with you.![]()
I walked past a Delta captain that had a backpack on his LW j-hook yesterday.
Digging the Rush!dasleben said:Missing that one! Used this beast until my current job. Between the ladder (to the upper deck of the jet I have 5700 hours deadheading on for 2.85:1 credit... Thanks OBAMA!), and long strolls through airports in civilian clothes sans-roller on commercial deadheads, the backpack was the clear choice.#runonsentencesftw #RUSHsuperfan
