Earbuds in sight of pax?

As a passenger, I don't care what you look like, wear, or do in your free time. The only thing I care about is when the door closes, you get me to my destination as safely and quickly as possible. Just my two cents...

I flew with a captain once that answered his cell phone on short final and he was the pilot flying. Is that kool?

Ungh.

On short final, the most important thing in the history of the world is landing the aircraft and getting it stopped.

Real estate deals, mommy and daddy beat the devil out of me, husband/wife is leaving you, Miley Cyrus has a new album coming out, not even if you just won the lottery.

Right then, nothing else matters.

You pay for what you get.

Also I could care less about the earbuds. Being at an airport for hours on a day listening to children cry, parents yelling at their kids, people talking loud on phones; is reason enough to try and zone out the excess noise.

Nope. I wash them more often than that. But I only dry clean them once a month to get them all nice and crisp again.

I never wash pants that say dry-clean only. Reduces their life tremendously (and they are only estimated to last 12 months with dry clean).

Home dry cleaning kit is best low cost good quality ROI ever. :D

It's actually quite simple; in exchange of letting you flying a shiny jet, you have to wear a uniform. It's usually written in a very detailed way (it is in my contract). We have an entire chapter in company ops manual detailing what you are supposed to be wearing at all times while on duty, and the subjective personal appearance requirements chapter is very thorough.
My uniform is always impeccable, as well as shirt, tie and shoes, even after an 11hrs flight, and so are my coworkers. Our pax expect their crew to act and look professional and since you have signed the contract that says that you will follow all company issued manuals, well....
