I Am Alaska

I just can't wait to go to Juno so I can see Russia!
Eh. Its cool the first time. Then it gets old. Usually its clouded in, and a real mystery. I only saw it a couple times going out to St. Lawrence Island.

If Southernjets is going toe to toe with Alaska, the worst thing they did before hand was move Alaska over to Terminal 6 at LAX.

Or, create chaos for them by moving them to 6 and then create more chaos in their operation by kicking them out of 6. Conversely, if they try to block the gate in JNU, make them use the gates deep on the ramp and then keep them bottled up with "Traffic in the alleys"

I love the fact that NYC crews are going to be flying in the supposed, most difficult place to aviate into, in the world.

You mean Bogota, where the airport is at 8300 feet, MEAs nearly in the Flight Levels, poor English, oh, and an arrival late at night?

Oh that's right, we are just talking about PAJN, not even in the top 20 of the most difficult airports I have been into with a jet. In fact, its so easy, we are letting our most junior 757 base fly it.

Is there even going to be a 'special qual checkout' for it or will the Jepp Pictures be enough?

Normal, public approach requires jepp pics. Home built approaches require sim quals. So, until Delta gets there own RNP approach built, all the crews need is the pictures.

Yep, the Alaska Flying Mafia is probably going to blow their lid when they hear that.

After all, microclimates!

There are a number of 207 and Otter pilots crowded around a LCD screen pursing their lips disapprovingly at this, @Jimflyfast

(honestly, I accept that there are only about three people out of 24,000-plus that are nerdy enough to understand the above reference)

Ya, but that means they're limited to the LDA-X... 2200ft and a mile higher than the Z. So that sucks.

Naw, they're gonna get the Zulu. Works ok most of the time but I would imagine the 26 is nice when there's that wall at the cut but downtown is ok. Oh wait, there's no such thing as microclimates and the ATIS is never incorrect.

Actually, DL decided to only let SEA base Line Check Pilots and AQFOs do the trips. All awarded trips to "regular" pilots will be bought. This is just for this summer while the 757 flies it and then the 737 will have special training. I'm sure this will get some people fired up, I know I'd be annoyed if I was awarded the trip already.

So are they leasing gates from LAX or us? I seem to recall we were leasing all the gate space in 6. If the company has LAX expansion as part of it's "Flight Plan" then we will need to utilize Terminal 6 more to accommodate more flights.
