$12,000 signing bonus Saab 340 pilots

Are they really going BK again?
I don't know... I'm not involved with Silver. But if I were a betting man I'd gander that with the lack of pilots beating down their doors for a job flights will eventually be cancelled thus affecting their profits (if any at the present) and now this offer of 12k to lure the applicant would make even a green investor furrow their brow in curiosity wondering if this business model is sustainable.

If they keep running the operation the way they are, it would be nearly impossible for them to not end up in bankruptcy again.

Extreme inefficient use of resources, aircraft, crews, etc. Management is not willing to talk about pilot retention, but are focusing instead on this 12K new hire bonus.

Even if they do get new blood in the seats, they are going to treat them so poorly that they will end up bailing for a jet regional within 6-9 months of being hired.

Silver had a wonderful opportunity when they rebranded from Gulfstream. Too bad they squandered the chance with piss poor management.

Don't forget the majority of that problem is they didn't get rid of some of the management that put GIA in that situation in the first place.

It's funny to see a regional that is almost worse than GLA. Very impressive achievement Silver!

What does "worse" mean? Without knowing, I think they're a more efficient airline without the debt problems of GLA. They made quick moves to exit low performing routes and upgrade to more efficient equipment. It's a privately-held company, so I can't tell... I think the revenue, net income, and growth are there.

You probably meant "worse" from an employee and customer treatment perspective....then, yes.

Just wanted to add my 2 pennies. I would never describe any part of Silver as efficient as I watched them waste thousands of dollars daily through incompetence.

Finally, I would suggest anyone considering Silver for the $12k to look elsewhere. You will not see Florida, a reasonable paycheck, or a quick upgrade. Pick a good paying regional with a history of treating their employees like human beings. If anyone has questions feel free to PM.

Not good pay but, as a flight student, I would take that job when I graduate. Just to fly the 340. They don't fly many routes in the U.S. and it's on my 'Must fly' list.

Thats the reason they pay what the pay and they do what they do to their pilots. I believe regionals will never get better.

Isn't there something there about being locked into the Union contract, and thus the reason they CAN'T pay 12k as a a wage? It has to be bonus because of the way the union contract is written, correct?
