Malaysia Airlines 777 missing

I think the guys done a pretty good Job. Much better than many of the retired airline pilot experts.

I guess I'll give you that much. Perhaps it's because he's clearly a reluctant contributor. Mr. Casado is there, seemingly, under some duress. The rest just seem to be jockeying for for attention or publicity. I would RUN from that type of attention--as would most professional pilots I know. I'm automatically suspect of anyone that doesn't. My impression is that Mr. Casado would too, but is being loyal to his employer. I don't fault him nearly as much as I do CNN.

That being said, there remains a journalistic responsibility on CNN's part to disclose that Mr. Casado and his "sim" are not at all what CNN is holding them out to be. Not even close.

I agree that his individual story is endearing. HOWEVER, I take issue with the fact that he's been propped up as a 777 instructor. He's not. He's not even typed on the 777. He happens to run a non-certified "flight training-type device." It doesn't even fit the certification requirements of an FTD, let alone a simulator. There is a responsibility on the part of CNN to disclose the fact that he is NOT an expert on the 777. I took some biology classes in college, should I be mixing it up as a corespondent on Sanjay Gupta's CNN medical show? Of course not. It would be disingenuous and blatantly dishonest for me to do so. Just as it is for CNN to have Mr. Casado doing what he is doing.

On a much more serious note, I LOVE this twitter feed: Les Abend's Blazer. Perhaps the true voice of reason in this whole freak show.

Amen. Couldn't agree with you more. It's appalling CNN has never stated the facts at the SIM and the instructor.

All I have to say after watching all this news coverage is Jim Tillmon seems like an angry brother. I think the news media has pissed him off with their dumb questions. Somebody get him to a tropical beach with a pina colada.

Why is it that AA pilots can't stay off the air on CNN with the ridiculous reporting 3+ weeks after the crash with NO NEW updates?! The smart ones, like Delta's P. Smith have realized that it's a lost cause in terms of no new items to report on. But for AA, Les Abend continues coming literally every night live. Retired pilots Tillmon and M. Weiss are also ex-AA and coming on the air to report on basically nothing.

Why???? Make it stop. Any self-respecting pilot should have removed themselves from the CNN scene at least a week ago, with a condition that since there is nothing new to report, their services would not be required at this time.

If they offered me $5-10k a night to go on and talk with them about nothing at all, I'd do it.

Something seems to be happening in the search today. News is kind of scrambled but it's different.

The only thing different that I can see is that there is some new dude on CNN with his own show, whose name I cannot pronounce.
