SkyWest or Horizon?

4 ways? Pfff I ain't flying a plane that doesn't autofeather. I quit!

That's one of the four :-)

While it's true that newhires have gone to SBP, that doesn't mean it's junior. There are only 11 FO's there, and there's a seniority difference of 430ish between #6 (8/2011 hire) and #7 (10/2013 hire). Not saying it's not worth going to, just FYI.

Roger. Thanks man. I think I can make PSP or FAT work also I'd just prefer sbp .

What are the chances of getting DEN or COS out of training at Skywest right now?
The interview they told us in the previous class they had direct DEN guys because they're short staffed there. That said, reserve is over 18 months they said. But if it's home, not bad!

Sweet! After instructing for almost 2yrs in different states, I'm homesick. Like the guys above said, once you taste the mountains and the snow, you'll never want anything else. I wonder what the reserve in Colorado Springs is like. I'd take either base, they are only a 1.5hr drive apart.

I honestly couldn't tell ya. You'd have to find someone working there like @autothrust_blue to check the seniority lists and whatnot.

I'll be there in 11 days though!

congrats man, you going into the e170?
I wish. the erjs classes are filled atm as far as I know they're not hiring direct into them just yet.

I'm sure they'll do direct hire within a year if I had to guess. depends how many people decide the erj is new and shiny and they want it.

brasilia here. had a really tough few days trying to decide airframe.

Nice. I've been having the same dilemma as you lately, I know I want to move west but dont know where lol. I don't have nearly enough hours to even be worrying yet though, but good luck man, hope it all works out![/quote]

There's no formal agreement, from what I understand. Supposedly, AS has agreed to hire 30% of their classes from QX, and they've been living up to that. 3 FOs/week leaving QX and half of them have gone to AS.

True. I know three Horizon pilots who will all soon be ex's horizon pilots or already are. 2/3 of those pilots going to AS. Horizon needs to fill 2 classes a month each with 8 people in one. 16 people a month till the end of 2014.

It really depends. The NOV and DEC classes mostly got DEN right out of training. The entire JAN class got ORD except 5 got MSP. Won't know what the FEB class got for another week or so. There are currently about 25 on the wait list for DEN and 17 for COS. Most of the people inline for COS have DEN as their first choice.

Reserve in COS is as good as it gets. You don't get called at an outstation as much as you'd get called in a hub like Denver (unless you want to fly and put yourself on a first call list).

COS is a small and pretty senior base for CAs and FAs. Most of them have been with the company for a while and aren't going anywhere anytime soon. It's a tight-knit community, nice folks and great to fly with. You'll enjoy it there.
