SWA Landing gear collapse at LGA

That FA cracks me up. "Ladies and gents were are not there, you need to take your seats."

Uhh, are you on the same plane I'm on lady? This thing ain't gunna make it "there." I'm gettin off this thing, stay if you want.

Based on statements from the flight crew and the cockpit voice recorder it appears that the pilot was attempting to raise the flaps in the flare and inadvertently raised the gear handle.

.

You know, when I first joined this site a bit more than a year ago, I thought this was just a silly inside joke. "Haha! Yeah, be sure ya don't 'raide dem flaps in da flare!' Hoo-hoo! What a hoot! What a knee-slapper!!"

But... no. You... you guys weren't kidding. People actually do this? On a regular basis? On commercial airliners, no less? As many flights as I've been on, I've never seen a commercial pilot raise flaps until we were past the hold short line.

So... yeah... actually, literally, and seriously raising flaps in the flare is a thing?

YGTBSM

I laughed out loud at first, then realized that it wasn't a joke.

Right. When I first read that, I thought he fabricated the report. But the rest of the report looked legit. Maybe it is a joke, who knows. Usually when people post those things, they also post a link to the report. Let's hope this IS a joke.

After looking at it again, looks like he just added a paragraph to the *real* report. I think we've been bamboozled.

I KCM'd (I wish that was sexual) with a super hot SW Pilot. Good God she has aged well!

I let her raise my flaps any day. But no cancelling though...

You guys are all wrong. It wasn't flaps in the flare, or running over-squared. It was a lack of automation in the cockpit.

Looking inside this thing, one thing is definite, GORDON LIDDY, from Ajax isn't gonna be to happy with this tremendous build up gunk inside this aircraft.

Definitely blew the fetzer valve on that landing.

Anybody have any Prestone? No, make that Quaker State.

There is obviously a CFI out there teaching people to;
Raise flaps in the flare
Use high power settings and ride brakes the whole time
To say "any traffic in the area please advise"
Tell approach their entire life story but leave out the atis ID and altitude
To tell approach when they won't be flying in the airspace just over or under it
To never use flight following or file a plan vfr because ATC is out to get you
And to not enter controlled airspace if you want to keep your ticket.

I'm going to punch him in the neck when I find him!

I have literally heard all these things in the last two days

Use high power settings and ride brakes the whole time

Worthless factoid: The only thing the A-10 ever did fast, was taxi fast. Even in idle, you had to nearly ride the brakes, just to keep it from going too fast down the taxiway. And, there's no parking brake.
