Flight delays pile up Monday after FAA budget cuts

Why you so dry and abrasive? I am asking you am honest question. You think I have an agenda or something? Lighten up dude.

How about something like "I'd rather not say on a public forum."

I think it's abundantly obvious that his response also implied "I'd rather not say on a public forum."

Maybe he's ashamed who he's working for....

C'mon . . . you are joking right? o_O

Many of us including myself take no particular effort to hide giving out facts that would let someone deduce who we work for, however we prefer not to actually say no matter how obvious it may be at times for a particular JC'er.

I am in this category because I feel like I am more free to write what I want if I am not writing as a pilot representing a certain company. I happen to work someplace, but my opinions are just those of some guy who flies 121 in the USA and has a type rating on brand X airplane.

I do not tell anyone who I work for. Mostly because no one believes that I am a pilot.

Hahaha, but no.

I really love where I am at. Absolutely no complaints and super excited to be part of the future of my airline.
I think Al Pacino said it best in "Glengarry Glen Ross". You company man! There was more but I would get a time out if I posted it.

I still love you though so do not take it personal.

I have no patience for pilots who think they know better than an Air Traffic Controller about our ATC counterparts situation.

So why are you directing that anger at me. Remember, I'm not the one who said they were throwing a tantrum. I said if they are, it's misdirected. You used to be fun.

Runway 22L LOC went out at JFK a few hours ago. The localizer maintainer (Not all airways facilities maintenance personnel can work on an ILS) normally scheduled happened to be furloughed today. JFK was forced to the 13's with winds on the METAR currently 190@14G20 with VIS 7 at the time I believe. Since JFK is the NY area linchpin, all N90 towers including LGA and EWR are stuck with serious wind issues. TEB was forced to all but shut down for a while.

We're not throwing a tantrum or stomping our feet over this.

Yeah I read the thread and I still don't see the "stomping."

I don't know where this "quote" came from, but I'd bet that's an isolated incident and it needs to be reported.

One runway ops at FLL would necessitate larger arrival gaps to get departures out, especially if they've lost the ability to use Line Up And Wait. LUAW requires an additional controller in the operations area at many facilities.

Also, I don't know what their IFR release situation is with Miami approach. If they have to call every time, or if they normally have automatic releases. Either way, a reduction in staffing at Miami Approach could affect FLL tower's ability to move airplanes, in addition to FLL losing staffing themselves.

I'm not saying that's the situation, but I think we deserve a little more credit than being accused of stomping our feet because things run more slowly when we're short staffed. I can assure you, nothing pleases us more then moving airplanes off our frequency as fast as possible. If you were working a checkout line at a retailer, would you consciously want the line to build ever larger while the occupants got more and more pissed?

The quote came from attempted coordination with the SoCal TMU prior to even leaving the ground. I get that it's a crappy situation and I even accept that there may be things that just can't happen with staffing and traffic levels at certain times, but a categorical denial of service before even listening to the request... It's one person throwing a tantrum, that's all. I know that one person doesn't represent everyone, so please don't take it that way. There have been times where I've witnessed controllers work traffic like absolute superheroes, you all should be proud, and well paid :).
