Republic to fly for American

On the other hand, they have scheduled another Negotiation for Mid-Feb.

Too bad they'll threaten with losing the flying if "we don't get in line"...thats fine...just give us a decent contract...

I'm gonna make up some T-shirts for HR:

Come fly for RAH..
you don't have cancellation pay...
but hey look at these shiny 175's!

Those 175's will be NEW. How often will a brand new jet break and cancel the flight? I've flown brand new jets fresh from the factory, and we rarely and I mean rarely cancel flights.

Not airliners? Really? How come Beech calls the lowly 99 the Airliner?
If I can gas it up, fill the seats and fly it much farther than LAX to about, oh, ABQ, it's not a regional airliner.

I'm not sure what to call it other than a "small narrowbody."

Are you new to the airline world?

Do you know what clouds in New York does to our schedule?

If you notice, the media almost always refers to RJ's as "commuter jets". Does that make you feel better? Heck, Airbus actually calls my jet a "regional freighter".

Yeah, I only have 27 years of airline experience and the clouds in New York are the same as anywhere else, although they have a distinct northeast liberal stench to them.

Then you should be aware that flights cancel all the time that have nothing to do with the maintenance or age of the airframe.

"Open crew," "Extreme weather," "Japanese Beetle Infestation (seriously)," ...
I don't know what kind of mickey mouse operation you work for, but we don't cancel flights "all the time".
Holy crap, I 'Like' something you said.

*shrugs*

Ima gonna go to work and fly my 145 like I always do. Then I'm gonna go diving.
For those that worry- this was always expected. Shareholders have been up AMR's tailpipe about diversifying regional feed to keep up with the industrial Joneses for years. This will finally do that.

Meanwhile, AMR just secured 1.5B for additional aircraft financing. I'm predicting an aircraft purchase for fleet renewal in the near future. We're parking 135s, and I expect to see them replaced with bigger jets. Best guess? CRJ 700s or 900s. It makes sense- WHY would we get 175s? We'd have to start an entirely new program for that type rating. CRJs are common types- we're locked and loaded for those.

If you'll excuse me, I'm off to a martini mixer to interview applicants for bedsheet durability testing events. Cheers.

I'm shocked that Jerry let this slip between his fingers. I know he's had his eye on larger rj flying for american for a LONG time.

Virtual airline time on microsoft flight sim doesn't count :p

Don't knock it till you try it.

Can't speak for Embraer, but if it's built by Bombardier the correct answer is "fairly often." Hell sometimes you can't even make the first flight FROM the factory.
