Allegiant votes for Teamsters

Good question.

As ATN_Pilot said, you get the same services as an airline such as Delta does. What are the services? Think of them as insurance services that go beyond it if you make a simple mistake.

For example, our former POI was getting his peepee slapped around shortly after the accident by a lot of folks. So naturally he decided to interpret a Flight Time/Duty Time Regulation in a different way and ended up sending over 30 Pilots Letters of Investigation. If ALPA wasn't there each pilot would have probably needed to spend a couple of thousand of their own money to get a lawyer to respond to these LOIs (AOPA Legal Services only go so far and have little idea how to handle 121 Regs intertwined with specific OPS Specs). The ALPA Lawyers responded for free, well actually they told the POIs bosses-boss-boss-boss what was going on and the poo rolled down hill. Each Pilot was given a Letter of No Action and nothing is on their record.

Another 'insurance' service offered is ALPA Aeromedical. Have ANY issues with your medical or questions concerning your medical, you have access to this service for free.

I think you are seeing how ALPA works on the industrial side. Aren't y'all taking on larger airplanes? If so you have a CBA that clearly spells out how much you will be paid for those planes or spells out a process on how y'all will figure out how much you will be paid to fly those planes.

I worked at a nonunion airline and two union airlines. While ALPA isn't perfect, but it is A LOT better than working for a nonunionzed airline.
Thanks!

I don't understand much now as I am just focusing on getting my ATP and ATR type so I can pay for the baby on the way. I guess I'll look more into a CBA and see what it says.

I know you can't comment publicly (or at all really), but what is the Executive Office's justification of that? I really don't want to waste any more of my dues money on Pizza Parties for the Skywest guys, but properties that at least have a shot at joining should probably be considered.

Or making sure we get the FA's into the KCM program...

I'm pretty sure ALPA had NOTHING to do with that.

Yeah, I would actually be shocked if a certain someone didn't try to kill it rather than support it behind the scenes.

Personally, I think it's a good thing. They should be able to bypass. But it wasn't something that ALPA pushed at all.

Ah hell, don't mind me. Just funny that you're standing next to ATN in all of these union threads, but you chose to move on to a non-union carrier. Nothing wrong with that; I'm looking at your current employer, too.

Are you sure you have the right Wookiee?

His current employer has been unionized under ALPA for a very long time.

Oh heck, maybe I got the wrong guy, or I'm way out of touch. He ain't at JetBlue?
