Mitsubishi Aircraft and SkyWest Airlines Inc have reached an agreement in principle for 100 of the airframer's Mitsubishi Regional Jets.

The agreement for the Pratt & Whitney PW1200G-powered MRJ90s is likely to be firmed "in the coming weeks". They will be operated by SkyWest Airlines and ExpressJet.

Deliveries will start in 2017, running through to 2020.

5 years from now....lol

This is probably just a negotiating tactic as Skywest is in deep talks with Bombardier

Hello, whipsaw, how have you been?

What I'm willing to bet we'll be told soon: "GUYS GUYS GUYS GUYS GUYS! LISTEN! Inc. just signed a deal FOR LIKE A ZILLION NEW JETS! If we sign a contract NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW for slight concessions WE MIGHT HAVE A CHANCE TO GET THESE JETS! COME ON COME ON COME ON SIGN SIGN SIGN SIGN SIGN SIGN SIGN NNNNNOOOOOWWWWW!!!!!!"

(BTW Read the above as if a Golden Retriever were telling you the news)

It's a 90 seat aircraft and says a lot about where management thinks scope is headed. Will it ever stop?

I saw somewhere that Trans States also has orders for the MRJ's, actually I think it says on their website, or maybe it was APC.
Anybody have comments, likes or dislikes, they would care to share about Trans States?

OMG, our stock price is up $0.97! I can almost retire!

If I'm still here when/if these planes arrive, someone please euthanize me.

Oooh, fun! Coast-to-coast in an RJ sounds like a really good time!

Guys.

Seriously.

Really.

These things are the same size as the CRJ-900, which has a max range of 1,800 miles. Hell the EMB-145XR will go 2,000.

This type of aircraft already exists, in the same size, at the regionals. These are replacement aircraft, not growth aircraft.

And we shouldn't be worried about their size, we should be worried about whipsaw against Skywest.

But the gross weight exceeds that allowed by the Delta PWA.

Then they won't go to Delta, they'll go to United.

Point being that this aircraft already exists in the regional market. The EMB-175 and CRJ-700/900 are already doing this stuff with this size. The EMB-145XR has more range than any of them.

So what I'm really trying to say is let's not throw our collective hands up in the air and scream "OH THE NOES! SCOPE IS GONE! IT'S ALL OVER!"

I understand that it isn't until 2017, but they cannot be operated by SkyWest Inc since they exceed the weight limit in our PWA. The limit applies to all the airplanes operated by a holding company. There is an exclusion for the current fleet of RAH/Frontier airplanes.

"While specific allocations are yet to be determined, we anticipate that aircraft would be delivered to both of SkyWest, Inc’s operating entities. I cannot overemphasize how important it is to remain competitive in our ability to accept these or any aircraft" - Brad Rich, Skywest Inc.

We all know what that means! But guess what Brad, here's my middle finger!
