What's up with 9e

Yeah, but how bad are your property taxes?

See, that's what I thought. They're less than what I normally paid in MS state income tax, though. Home owner's insurance (including hurricane insurance) is about $100 more a year than on my house in Mississippi. The state has been doing a lot to a) keep residents from moving away and b) attract new residents

Excellent. That is why I asked the question.

Good to know considering we are thinking about moving to somewhere in Florida sooner rather than later.

Honestly, I think I'm coming out about $400 a year ahead at this point. Homeowner's insurance is $100 more, but property taxes are about the same as state income tax. So, the ~$500 I was paying in property taxes in Mississippi makes up the difference. Granted, I still pay it, it's just included in the price I charge for rent.

So, just read this little nugget:

Our other focus area is working with our labor unions on the necessary
contract concessions to get our employee costs more in line with our
business model.
We’re making progress with ALPA leadership on resolving
the pilot integrated seniority list issues I explained earlier. However,
we aren’t in agreement on pay concessions right now. As I’ve mentioned
previously, for our business plan to work we need the pay cuts to be
permanent.
Similar to the United agreement, a temporary reprieve doesn’t
fix our long-term financial issues.

So, we've gone from temp cuts to the cuts being permanent for the "business model to work." If we need wages that much lower than the other regionals to compete, I think maybe we need a new business model. They seem to be doing okay without having to resort to re-99 era wages. I think a lot of guys might be able to stomach a temp cut in order to get the company ship righted. Now, we're hearing that the cuts need to be permanent for the business model to work? Burn in hell on that. Fix the business model.

Trust me, being a 10 minute drive from the airport is not a reason to work for Trenary. It didn't really help me that much with 9E. I can't imagine how that guy would treat employees without a contract. I'd be cautious about going with ANY start up, especially with oil ticking up like it is. Vision already had a route structure set up, and they're drawing things down. I'm not even sure if PE will get off the ground. Having PT as a CEO, IMO, would make it even harder. The guy has already taken one airline in the ground, and it would have been another if the BOD hadn't forced his hand. "Resigned?" Yeah, likely before he was shown the door.

Oh I agree with you about working for Phil. The man was not exactly labor friendly and Pinnacle is in ruins because of his "management". I also believe he was shown the door once the problems started showing up to the BOD. The thought that another company would give him a job is a joke, but that is how things are done in aviation. I heard a joke once that you weren't a true pilot until you had been furloughed, bankrupt, and divorced. Apparently you aren't a real airline CEO until you have caused a company to go through bankruptcy.

Part of the reason that I am looking at PE is the drive, but that isn't the only reason. My new job isn't exactly working out as I had planned. I have barely worked in the 2 months since my type ride. Sounds great, but part of the draw of my new job was the PIC. 10 hours a month is hardly helping me. That and since I am not flying charter as originally planned, I am not receiving per diem or an hourly charter rate. I'm actually not making any more than when I left Pinnacle. At least it is salary now instead of depending on picking up time.

I don't know. The grass is always greener. The way I see it if PE makes it and I was in class day one, then I am set. If it doesn't make it, then at least I have a 737 type and some time in the plane. As more details come out, I'll decide what I think is best, but for now I plan to apply.

I knew you had a new job locally, but I didn't know it wasn't working out well. If that's the case, then you don't really have much to lose by applying. In your situation, I might go for it, too. As it is, I'm just holding on to the edge of the toilet bowl while Pinnacle circles until I get fished out. Hopefully by the end of the year.

Sooo...

What is up with the notification changes for the FAs in the new CFM revision?

For those who don't know, our CFM now says the sterile cockpit notification is to switch the NO SMOKING switch from OFF to ON and back to OFF to creat a two tone chime rather than using that nifty little CHIME button that gives off a natural two tone chime.

I'm baffled to say the least...

That's our dumb procedure. The FA's thought it sounded different (or some such similar nonsense) and just like a beaten husband, refusing to voice reason, we simply folded and said ok. The story has been told about 3 separate ways to me, and it would appear that the flight attendants like that better so that's the way we did it.

Blame us.

Whoohoo! I can blame Mesaba for something!

Actually, I am just glad you think it is a dumb procedure.
Wonder why we are using the procedure from the part of the company that operates the minority of the jet fleet?
We need to fight this one hard because the 9E procedure is much better and much easier and much simpler.
Push the chime button once for sterile cockpit notifications, twice for landing notification.

LOL.

Uhmm. In that case, do it our way, I hope it makes you miserable. :)

Sell us to Skywest already would you?
