What's up with 9e

Huh?

I'm not saying that any regional is better than any other. But saying that any of our crappy airlines is "irreplaceable" is laughable.
I think the theory circulating right now is somehow those money losing Q's are irreplaceable and NO ONE could ever get another one ever and the RJ's can't possibly replace our Q's on the flying they used to do.

Unfortunately you are hopping onto the logic train when it's already concluded it's trip.

Not irreplaceable but I do not believe anyone has the capability to just take over easily is all I am saying.

ASA didn't have a problem taking over Mesa's -200 flying. Go jets is getting some of their planes. It wouldn't be an overnight thing. With plenty of heads up, any of our dysfunctional companies could pull it off.

A crj 200 operator taking over flying that was done by another crj 200 is a lot different than taking over a whole new type.

CAL scope prohibits limits the ewr flying to 50 seats if it's a jet, the Q was a work around. It's harder to pick up because you can't really swap out the fleet type, and you can't really pick up q400s at will, and just "start" a new program. The costs and down time assositated with picking up the flying, and the leg work involved make it hard to do "cheaper" than Colgan is able to already do it at. I'm pretty sure, that UAL/CAL would rather just pay Colgan what they would end up paying another operator... and not deal with the transition, growing pains, and down time assosiated with it.

If you ride one of these things out of IAD, they are full... all the time. If UAL is making money at 34 seats sold, I doubt they would want to pull that down if they don't have to.

I hope for your guys sake, you are right. I don't want flying that comes directly from another carrier. Especially of its just because we are cheaper.

That being said, I still think you guys are being a bit optimistic with the "there is no way they can replace us!"

Companies have created entirely different operating certificates to save a few extra bucks. Training a few pilots/mechanics on a new type really wouldn't be that difficult.

Again, I know a lot of good peeps at colgan. I hope this is t coming across as a OMG I HOPES MAH AIRLINE GETS TEH Q!" I hope you guys keep it, I hope all of our companies stop screwing us over, and I hope we all can have jobs that allow us to provide for our families comfortably.

But Mesa was probably cheaper than ASA for that -200 flying. I doubt their performance was significantly worse than ours. We got that flying as part of a low interest loan to United. None of us are safe from being replaced for even the most trumped up of reasons.

As pilots we also get our heads so far up our airplanes butt we forget sometimes the thing that matters the most, money. No business cares what the airplane is, they care about the dollars. The funny part is you can never tell if they are going to care about $ over the long term or five minutes in front of their face. In fact I'm fairly certain they use long term view vs short term view interchangeably just to screw with said regional airline.

No, but Wells Fargo could. Just have United call up their buddies over there and say, "Hey listen, we're gonna ditch this CPA with Pinnacle for some Q400's, you wanna buy them up and then lease them back to us? We'll sublease them to some other regional and put them on the hook for the lease."

This is how XJT's aircraft are leased.

It makes sense from a tax purpose to do exactly that for United, Pinnacle gets the airframes off their certificate, and then Wells Fargo gets to sell them to some third world country operator in another 15 years when they're clapped out.
This is how the Q200's we fly were leased, through Horizon from Wells Fargo.

I want to also point out that I, and everyone else on here feel the same as EMU, we don't want to see you guys lose the flying. If you did a lot of good guys would be screwed.

Well, the 15th came and went.. No huge announcement...

They could be holding off until tomorrow to annouce something that took all day today to complete. Who knows...

Big news for me is that I will probably be a line holder again next month!

The one thing I saw yesterday was a sign in one of the crew hotels in Newark that was welcoming Colgan Air and announcing their use of a meeting room all day today.

No idea what it means, just saying what I saw.

They laid off a bunch of administration people on the 9E side this past week, and that was supposedly completed today. That's the only major event I know of going on today. Could be our "big announcement," maybe not. Another airline rumor turned out to be just a rumor, who saw that one coming....

Just saw this on another site. According rumors, the announcement today was to be made before the quarterly report comes out tomorrow. Looks like the company will not release the report until sometime next month.

Item 8.01 Other Events
As previously disclosed, the Company is currently executing initiatives to increase its short-term and long-term liquidity and reduce costs. Given the substantial time and resources focused on these efforts, the Company is still finalizing its financial results for the quarter and year ended December 31, 2011. As a result, the Company does not anticipate releasing fourth quarter 2011 earnings, filing its 2011 Form 10-K, or hosting its quarterly earnings call until a not yet determined date in March 2012.

Interesting. Eager to see the 4th quarter 2011 numbers.

Wonder if it will be early March or the end of March, closer to the April deadline that UAL and EDC have agreed upon.

SEC normally allows companies to hold off news like that so they can get everything in line for the bad news. We have a pool going for when we are announcing chapter 11 in April, any takers? I've got the 15th.

You do realize the 15th of April is on a Sunday...
