STOP THE NOISE!

It's definitely an ERAU plane.

The sad thing is, all the locals go after ERAU as the main offender, when in reality, they've got very strict noise abatement procedures they make their pilots follow. Usually, its the other flight schools in the area who end up causing the issues, but because they aren't as well known, they don't get the finger pointed at them.

Saw it a little over a week ago on US1 as you're just leaving Daytona. The sign looks fresh as if it's just been put up.

Well no ....I found an article and a picture of the billboard for your viewing pleasure.. complete with ERAU paint scheme.

"Former military and commercial pilot James Speer, chairman of the city's Noise Abatement Committee, voiced frustration last week after three years of work. After a positive start, he said the committee realized there was no simple way to solve the problem under existing regulations."

WTH? I would expect it from Joe Six Pack, but a former pilot moving near an airport and then complaining? Come on man, you know what it is like around an airport and you know how to find their location and patterns. You of all people should only blame yourself, poor decision making is your fault, not others. Buy ear plugs.

Good job, James Speer, for stabbing other pilots in the back.
Are these related to the NIMBY-Tards in Harvard, MA? Sounds like the same exact message of DOOOOOM and declining property values.
Maybe the US should just ban any activity that might possibly offend someone else... then we'll have freedom...

Told you guys so. Money wins. Always.

Motorcycle and car stereo noise is much worse, and far more disruptive. But you never see a billboard about that, do you?

It's a shame because so many communities could be financially improved by enacting ordinances that allow tickets to be handed out for obnoxious motorist noise. It would be so simple-- just issue handheld decibel meters to cops with instructions that they are to write tickets to any car or motorcycle that produces more than [x] decibels within [y] feet.

Imagine a world with no mouthbreathing Harley posers or scumbag bass-music blasters.... ahhhhhhh.

Funny you mention it, in New Hope, PA they do just that. There are a large number of bikers that drive down river road during the summer and end up in the town for food and shopping. The locals and some businesses fearing the loud noise and bikers would drive away more affluent shoppers started issuing tickets for bikes over a certain decibel. Not exactly sure how tickets were issued, guessing a decibel meter is involved.

The kid on the billboard should be looking up at the airplane in amazement and wonder, not cupping his ears in terror. It's sad, but this is happening in so many cities. The folks in Santa Monica are not only complaining about the noise, but saying that they are getting cancer because of the airport. The residents there are seriously working every angle they can.

Did anyone bother to read the guys complaint? It appears to be written by a highschool kid trying to prove to his teacher he doesn't know how to write. Like a 15highschool year old going off on a rant. I can understand why he isn't making any headway with his arguments.

This guy is seriously a total ass hat. I am not one for liking much of want APPARENTLY does, but there help would be much appreciated on this issue. And yes I am going to join just to piss this guy off. How many email accounts do you think I can create before he figures it out?

And god forbid if they live next to the ocean when there's any swell.. I'm sure those waves pounding are even more decibels than that noisy garbage truck going down the street. I bet these people are the same people driving up and down I95 in the left lane, slow as hell, with their turn signals on. Maybe the planes flying over aren't really that loud... their hearing aids are just turned up too high!!

That's awesome. I wish they would do it nationwide. Think of the revenue for cities!
I mean, we all know that's what traffic citations are about anyway: Revenue. Speeding tickets, parking tickets, failure to signal, all of it means MONEY for the city who issues it. It would be sweet, sweet justice for BEING ANNOYING to be a violation of city ordinance and the offender subject to fines and penalties.

Personally, I think loud pipes on motorcycles belong to people who are basically adult babies who desperately crave constant public attention in the same way, and for the same reason, as squealing 14 year old girls in the mall food court. I see no reason why we shouldn't be cashing in on these imbeciles personality disorders. Who knows, maybe it will help them grow up a little!

I just want to take every Harley I come across and take it in for a freaking tune up. Get the distributor timing back where it should be (if they even have them, I don't know). Make it run a little smoother.

If you have to wrap on it at red lights to keep it running, it needs to be worked on.

A couple of years ago there was a big thing on the news about Denver enforcing noise limits. Biker after biker on the segment talking about "loud pipes save lives". None of the bikers were wearing helmets.

I live by an airport and I love airplane noises.

Unfortunately, because of the nature of the airport, the only cool noise I hear are the Piaggios flying over.

Loud pipes haven't been much of an issue most places I've lived. Loud rap and/or mariachi music on the other hand.... Sometimes I wished I had a grenade launcher.

Hahaha, me too!

Trying to piss them off is definitely the wrong answer, as (if you further research is site) he posts the ill written and immature emails as a way to show pilots as babies and strengthen his case. The only way to fight them is to keep the public informed (not through his website) and to keep your elected leaders informed. Harassment either in the air or through the web is probably the equivalent of breaking your own arm and leg before trying to fight.
