Gulfstream Intl Airlines Is Now Silver Airways

Here's the angle that a lot of people aren't grasping.

If you've got 10,000 hours in "heavier" jets like a −900 or you've got 2,500 hours in a Beech 1900, the person with the best connections will be the victor when it comes to getting the interview.

Success (or lack thereof) in this business is darned near 100% networking and professional relationships you build (or destroy, sadly, in some cases).
I'm also going to add, there is a much better chance that the pilot doing your interview has time in, and fond memories of flying a 1900. The crj 900, 170 etc are planes of the current generation.

From what I've heard ( feedback wise) companies like 1900 drivers because they have done EVERY job on the plane, from FA to CA, csr, baggage handler etc. mix in solid instrument flying skills and you have a well rounded pilot. 1900 pilots never have to "think up" a tell me about a time story.. They got them in droves:).

I'd say, don't turn down a job because you think a 1900 or sf340 will hinder your chances down the road. I don't see any heavy drivers, or interview pilots telling people a 1900 doesn't look as good. The only people who say things like that, are the guys flying things like crj's.

Ehh, I don't know that 1900 sic time is so bad. It's total time and he doesn't have to stay all 4 years and upgrade there. More TT will open up more opportunities in the future. I kind of agree with you though, it probably isn't quiet as valuable as jet time or whatever, but they are still operating as a crew which counts for something. Enjoy Glendive newbie gulfstreamers...

It will bring back old memories of BIG SKY!!

I fly a metro single pilot, and I'm seeing it first hand.

Much better. There would have been no RJ jobs to take. They came because somebody didn't want the flying..........o_O

Jeesh man, be kind. How are you going to tell your squad mates you're flying a freaking RJ? It's an embarrassing thing to fly a "little one". Heh.

I highly doubt your not getting the golden job because you are flying a metro.
Sadly people see what they want to see when it comes to self-evaluation (yours truly included). One of the most difficult lessons to learn is to accept constructive criticism without immediately saying "yeah, BUT...".

Some learn the lesson, some never do.

This is the scenario I use in interviews when they ask about a negative. I do struggle with criticism however I'm not talking about myself when it comes to this scenario.

well the problem I was seeing too with cargo single pilot was you lose the crew aspect of things and I am not saying it is better or worse but you do get the feeling that they see you as a lone wolf and will you fit in the crew environment. 2k Single pilot cargo

I still don't understand how flying a single pilot airplane in a crewed environment makes for a better experience. o_O

Mostly just communication and problem solving in a crew environment.

it is only certified single pilot in cargo operations with a autopilot. Don't quote me on it but I do know it must have an auto pilot for sure I don't know if it is only when with pax it must?

Doug you have very little message count do you have another user name? I am glad you are commenting on this and other small scale threads

I don't have an AP.

Nah, I just put a random number in there a few weeks ago in protest of people's Smeagol-like obsession with likes and post counts! :)

Are you flying the 1900?
I think the 1900 is bigger than the metro and the whole autopilot might be if you want to carry pax single pilot and even at that I heard it is not an easy add on for the 1900
