Delta Connection: Operated by GoJet Airlines

I hesitated to even click on this thread, because I knew it would be nothing but ugliness, but I ignored my instincts, and sure enough, it's nothing but ugliness. Honestly, guys, it's time to let it go. In case you haven't heard, TSA pilots got a new contract. It's done. Furloughed UAL pilots work at GoJet. Pilots who were in the 8th grade when GoJet started are out there looking for RJ jobs now. You think they know the history? Do you think they should care? Really, get over it. It's no longer relevant. The current GoJet pilots aren't scabs, or even pseudo-scabs. If you want to hold a grudge against the original GoJet pilots, then I'm right there with you. But they are a tiny minority of the current crop of GoJet pilots. Again, let it go.

You want to do something productive? Focus on getting that JCBA finished at ASA/XJT so you can combine operations and gain synergies that will allow you to be more competitive for upcoming RFPs. Help your fellow pilots at other airlines who are in contract negotiations. Join a committee. Run for office. Vote. Hell, do anything productive. Because I can assure you, GoJet hate on the internets ain't it.

Rant over.

The most rational post yet that I've heard vis-a-vis GoJets. Seriously.

I've been creeping this thread for days.. I'm gonna reiterate what ATN said. Most of these guys are not the original GoJet.. Deny a jumpseat to some poor bastard trying to get home to see his kids he can barely afford? No.. I mean come on guys. Everyone will have their own opinions and when it's their jet, it's their decision. A scab is a scab, but these newer GoJet guys are not.

so.... does this mean its cool to work there now? sounds like it! the union guy is on board!

I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole.

No thanks.

Too many better jobs to be had without having to run around with THAT monkey on your back.

True. I almost feel like all those newer GoJet guys didn't do their research...at all.

I wouldn't recommend it, simply because there are still pilots who can't get past it, and it can't be fun to show up for a jumpseat and wondering if the guy you're asking for a ride is someone who still can't get over it. Not to mention wondering if the guy on the hiring board at the major airline you're interviewing at might be a former TSA pilot who hasn't gotten over it and still hates any GoJet pilot. With so many good companies to go to without any stigma, why would you go there? It makes sense for the furloughed UAL guys, because they're just waiting for their recall to their career airline. For everyone else, probably not the best idea. Silly, I know, but you have to think about your career and what the safe bet is.

Nicely said Todd, this should be the standard line when it comes to answering those with questions about GoJet.

I hear guys are still pissed about the CAL scabs (even after the union officially forgave them? I'm hazy on the history). The CAL strike happened five years before I was born! I was morbidly curious and found the "Master Scab List," and it goes back to 1932. IMHO, that's nuts.... but I certainly don't plan on crossing any picket lines in my life (on principle) and I still came to the same conclusion regarding GoJet back on page three:

I know that there is an entire younger generation of pilots (or at least a very vocal minority of them) who feel disenfranchised and pissed off by the whole thing. Given my potentially extremely slow career progression time line (and my past experiences with Murphy's Law haha!), I suspect that by the time I was ever ready to apply to the majors those same guys are going to be the ones sitting across from me at the interview table.

Scab != GoJet pilots, even the early ones who were directly screwing over TSA.

VERY different deal. A scab is forever (even once they are dead).

Sorry, but scabs are a different story. To be clear, ALPA never "forgave" any CAL scabs. The court simply forbid the union from discriminating against them.

I hear you guys, I'm not saying forgive scabs, nor that GoJet = scabs, just that it's totally crazy that records have been kept for every single pilot that has ever crossed a picket line... In the history of aviation. I guess I'm lucky that I was brought up to support organized labor so it wouldn't be something I would ever consider, but given the reality of how seriously this is taken and the "beyond the grave" ramifications for it I can't believe anyone would ever do it on purpose and claim ignorance later, which I've heard does happen. I guess I needed to learn about this a little more to better understand some the militant attitudes taken towards GoJet (even though no picket lines were crossed) and now I do. Sorry for the hijack.

FYI, this isn't just an aviation industry issue. A scab is a scab in any industry, and is treated the same across the board. Hell some union members have done much worse than denying jumpseats to scabs in other industries.
