Older masks, ones I don't believe are in use anymore had this problem. Current masks, not so much.
 
The worst I've seen was a young pilot in Denver walking around with a white t-shirt with some not very witty writing that was clearly visible through the back of his uniform shirt. I was embarrassed for him. And before anyone chimes in with "maybe he forgot to bring a clean shirt" or some other excuse....really? Do you need to wander around the terminal looking like a moron?
 
His airline, his terminal, and his city. I just smiled, walked to my gate, and begged for a jumpseat home. (not his flight)
 
My general rule in cases like this is if he's bigger than me, I keep my mouth shut. If I'm bigger, I'm merciless

What looks weird about a leather jacket? Military pilots wear it, both with their flying gear and with their dress uniforms, and it doesn't look "weird". Let's not forget the origin of those uniforms that airline pilots wear....

You guys wear flight suits too! I'm not sure a 250# 767 ER captain is going to look right in "the bag". :)

Air ambulance pilots wear the flight suits. I have to ask some of my buddies why there where them though.

I would rather wear things that are functional though. Wearing a blazer when it's 100+ degrees out in the summer or only wearing a blazer/trench coat when it's -20 and blowing snow sideways isn't functional. The leather jacket just works well in most conditions compared to the blazer.

I also don't agree with wearing a pilot uniform (plus tie) that has so many stains from oil and dirt from having to do all of the 'dirties' such as loading and unloading cargo. But its policy to wear it. So if I want to keep the job I better do so.

Correct. Which is why I think hats for airline crews have very few legit places they can wear them. Not in the terminal, not on the flightline, so its kind of impractical.

Carhartt pants and a t-shirt in the summer. Carhartt pants and a Carhartt jacket in the winter. Problem solved.

I personally think that all pilots should be required to dress like the first airmail pilots. But, that's not for me to decide, so I put on my monkey suit.

Coat no hat is STILL tacky.

Hats are to be worn in the public view, I think. Contrary to popular belief, the airlines are not the military. ;)
