Re: Oh yeah, Landed the Pacific Wings interview!! Again!!

This was :sarcasm: as well...

I certainly hope he flops and that not one person in here is honestly wishing him good luck.

I suppose one good thing is that this place seems to pay the pilot to fly, unlike Colgan. :D :sarcasm:

When they no longer exist and the employees are left holding the empty bag, it certainly won't matter if they didn't get paid...lol

Re: Oh yeah, Landed the Pacific Wings interview!! Again!!

Dude if you want Caravan time that bad go talk to Westwind if you're in PHX. I think they're gonna need two pilots this upcoming season. After everything that's been written about PW, you would have to be an absolute idiot to go there. I just had a friend who was flying PIC there who quit after about a month. He had to go see for himself too. Don't be stupid. Listen to the people here.

Oh and by the way, what the hell is the hurry. Many people would kill to have a job in which they were able to rack up 2200 single engine PIC. Don't be so damned ungrateful that you would be willing to give up what seems like a good job, or hell just a job, in aviation to go fly for a POS company in which you would have to potentially move across an ocean. Do what you gotta do, but you can blame no one but yourself.

Re: Oh yeah, Landed the Pacific Wings interview!! Again!!

I hope you aren't broadcasting your DUI information around the airports and to your potential interviewers like you are on jetcareers. If the information needs to be known, let them ask you but stop volunteering the info.

That's not the first thing I tell people of course. But what I've found is people either don't care or its an absoloute disqual, so I'm pretty upfront about it. I mean if it is going to be a problem don't even call me is the way I feel. I by no means am proud of it and it is a bad thing to do. That being said half the people tha will hold it against you have done it themselves just not been caught. But I usually don't disclose unless asked, just trying to xplain to you guys what my situation is.

Well I am grateful for my job, that being said I am a person that has to constantly be improving and it isn't happening here. If I could teach some IFR, multi or fly at night that be one thing but over here it is day in and out single engine piston VFR day. After 3 years my minds going numb. I believe Westwind hires from within, I talked to them last year, that being said maybe I'll check with them again. I'm not running to PW, I'm cautiously checking them out, and strongly considering everything that I've read on here. I definitly will not go to Hawaii

Not that I really want to defend the company, but its hard to go under when most of the routes they fly are EAS. When they fed's hand you money to fly the plane, regardless of what's on it, that's some easy money.

Some career opportunities may appear to be a step forward but are a step in the wrong direction. When I was an instructor, there were places where I could have gotten hired into easily by simply having walking in and saying that I wanted to work there. These places had low pay, flying poorly maintained aircraft, and worked on the fringes of the regs. I held out for better opportunities.

You should want to make strong moves to solid places. Not to places that are questionable. Have you tried places such as Airnet, Flight Express, or Martinaire?

Re: Oh yeah, Landed the Pacific Wings interview!! Again!!

I'm not reading this whole cluster, but PIC time instructing foreign students is more quality flight time then SIC in a single pilot, single engine turbine airplane. Granted I know it's legit SIC time, however do you actually think that time will get you anywhere? Do you think the interviewer is going to be impressed with that type of flying? I sure don't. Here's the deal, when you post flamebait clike this on the forum, you make enemies, trust me. This industry is a small, small, industry where everyone knows everyone. You think I couldn't figure out who you were with a couple phone calls? I know people at a lot of the PHX flight schools, and I'm sure I can get a name. Now I don't believe in blackballing anyone from a job, so you have no worries on my behalf, but others may not be so kind. Between this thread and the other thread, I'd have no reason to want to fly a trip w/ you if I was at Wings. So if I was a dick at wings, I'd be making a call to management letting them know you're a no go.

Stick it out and keep applying to reputable places, and something will come. I bet you're making good money CFI'ing in PHX, so stick with QoL over caravan time. The more time you put between the present and the DUI the more marketable you are. Network and contribute to the site and you're options will continue to expand. Flamebait and sherman bridges your options will continue to shrink not only on JC but in the "real world" also.

You bring up some good points. What I don't understand is if you were working at Wings, and all I'm doing on here is asking about the place, what have I said that would make you not want to fly with me? I'm not going for SIC time, it would PIC. I'm gathering information right now, that's all.

This from another forum, so take it for what its worth:

Here is the info. You work full time as a ramper/ticket agent for 4 days and you fly for one day as a SIC on a Caravan/week. You can fly on your days off, but if I remember right you do not get paid for the extra time you put in. Oh ya, the pay is $9/hour. I will not give my opinion on this... I will leave this up to you.

Re: Oh yeah, Landed the Pacific Wings interview!! Again!!

Arrrgghh, you guys are right, I cant risk it all on a company like this. I guess if this many people are so strongly against it, I probably dont need to check it out. That turbine time is so tempting. Ill probably be eband from PW for life for canceling twice.

I would say go and check it out to see for yourself. Don't follow blindly the advice from an internet forum. This is a great place to get some great advice, but at the end of the day, it's your decision. I recently went to an interview just to get a peek at the culture and see what all the hype was all about, and form my own opnions. I would suggest seeing what it's like for yourself, if for nothing more than to have a peek at the way the company operates. You can always say no.

Re: Oh yeah, Landed the Pacific Wings interview!! Again!!

Soooo you claim to be "gathering info" yet in all the threads and negative responses about PW you claim to of read you still get excited about getting an interview there..... twice? From what I've read, you seem to state your standards are high and you want to have a job with multi or more then VFR flying but yet you are settling for a sub par job with PW.... Seems to me like you are taking the first exit into ghettoville instead of waiting for an exit to the burbs to come up. My experience is if you look for what you want hard enough... you'll find it eventually.

Re: Oh yeah, Landed the Pacific Wings interview!! Again!!

Screw turbine time, follow the money. That's my biggest advice to you. Follow the money.

Ironic that Colgan doesn't even pay their pilots on time, along with all the other crap the pilots there put up with; yet still guys flock to that place hand over fist. Yet I hear zero people giving someone grief for going to that operation.

I agree w/ Mike, go check it out, and see what kind of vibe you come up w/ if it isn't to much money. It'll should be a good learning experience for you. As for my comment about blackballing you it was based solely on the trolling aspect of these threads. I can't remember who came up w/ this phrase on here but do less talking and more listening and you'll be fine, advice we all could follow more including myself. I don't think you qualify w/ your multi time but I know Key Lime is hiring navajo drivers. Martinaire seems to be always hiring caravan captains where you'll make more, fly less, and have a better QoL. This goes back to the whole community thing. I was offered an interview at Martinaire solely from my connections through JC, along with my current job offer solely on my JC connections. Network.Network.Network I'll keep an ear out for you though.

While they dont get the grief that PW or Great Lakes does on here they do seem to still get a bit of a hazing. I dunno.. maybe it's because they pay slightly more then $10/hr and dont paint on the boots. :dunno:

The title was meant to be sarcastic. I'm not excited about working there, it would of just been something I had to do to get ahead. But I'm not going to risk it, I've learned enough things in my life the hard way.
