Talked to Colgan...

I have no idea what is taking so long on a BOS base. It would eliminate BHB and PQI for certain as well as a few others.

If BOS ever happened I would be over there as soon as I could hold it. I would then become a Colgan lifer with leather jacket potential.

Personally, I would be all over a BOS base and I'd even commute. However, I really don't see it happening. ALB makes more sense from an operational point of view, and BOS is also a very expensive airport to operate out/crew domicile. Airways is a on it's way out faster than the company or anyone will acknowledge is my bet also.
If any of you have any understanding of airline history NO ONE has made money flying anything with more than 19 seat out of BOS into the cities of ME, NH and VT. The list is long and distinguished of those that have tried and failed; Air New England, Precision, Bar Harbor Airlines, Executive Airlines, Down East...

How many guys commute EWR-BOS? I know I hear about that commute quite a bit, and Im not even on the Q.

Lots! EWR-PWM is a crazy commute, too! Good thing about the EWR-BOS is the 'shuttle' service.....flights nearly every hour so it appears to be a more reasonable commute than PWM. Although, glad I don't have to do either, that's for sure.

I believe this persons words were "The flying is great, the crews are some of the best people I've ever met, but this is the worst company I have ever worked for."

I could elaborate on some other things he said, but I don't want to make things more difficult for Doug and Kristie to get them to NJC. I know they're working really hard on it.

It could be good for some people. Just do some research and know what you're getting into. Just like any job.

Commutair is looking for 20 new pilots immediately too but the story is the same with the Company. The pilots you fly with are awesome; Tim Martins, won't be here for long, just wait till we get him out on the line, but the management blows, if you are interested I am gonna put up another post. PM me and give you your contact info, I'll send you mine to get your resume and all and walk it in.

What type of initial line would a new hire get out of BHB or PQI? Would it be semi-commutable?

Of course they are commutable. They are "Colgan" commutable. You can "commute" to work the day before your pairing starts and you can "commute" home the day after your pairing ends. Keep in mind it does leave you a FULL day at home once a week.:sarcasm:

Seriously can we PLEASE just get a BOS base already. Every other airline in the world has hub basing and for some reason Colgan thinks they are smarter than all of them.

What's the holdup?

Pinnacle management HATES outstation basing. In July Us airways had some of the worst cancellations in the history of Colgan. A big factor in that was sick calls and fatigue calls. With outstation basing, you have no reserve line up for when people call out. Management wants these bases gone. They want Boston as a base. They just have to focus on what needs to be focused on first.

Remember when ABE, BGM, and UNV all closed at the same time? Remember when every single pilot wanted their move days on the same day, and Colgan freaked out because they dont have the man power to cover all of those people being gone at the same time? You cant close BUF, PQI, BHB all at the same time.

I would place a bet that after the dust settles from the new Q bid and the BUF closure, we'll possibly see a bid for the 9 Qs going to who-knows-where and a bid for the closure of PQI and BHB and opening of BOS. This is all pure speculation by the way....

Word was 96 in 2010 and 45 by the end of first quarter of 2011. Per company memo. No way that they could put that many thru training in one month anyway. Sure, a massive ground school of 25 each, but then they will be sitting around awaiting the sim...then sitting around waiting for IOE. Hey, more power to them if they hire that many and I get more people under me and I can sit on my fat butt on R.O.E...BRING IT!

Anyone from the recent interviews hear back? I was scheduled to be there, but got stuck out due to weather. Rescheduled for the 21st/22nd.

I got a call from Mr. Colgan on Wednesday saying they had done the captain review board and were just waiting on the background check. They are trying to get people going quick.

I went in for an interview around start of august...didn't hear anything for 3 weeks, then got a phone call asking if i was still interested and avaliable for an october class. but that wasn't a job offer, it was just "checkin in." Got a call the other day asking what airport i'd fly out of, and i was kind of confused, since it'd been almost 6 weeks since initial interview...and they said they were offering me a job.

I have an overall question though...i have an offer from Key Lime outta Denver too. Key lime obviously pays better, i'd be getting PIC multi time, but probably flying a -equipped navajo in solid IFR icing. Should i take key lime, colgan, or should i stay with my current 135 company that's paying me nothing to fly a 206???

Ya I'm in the same boat, I have a Key Lime class date and supposedly a Colgan class date as well. It's an interesting choice...
