Had my first flight cancel as a result of this two days ago in Vegas. Unfavorable winds required us to use 25R and atc said it would be two hours minimum to accomodate our request...whoop...back to the gate.
We just need to go back to regulation...
His alternative path, perhaps doing work for ALPA, is ultimately doomed because he can't grow a worthy stache.

Only meeting John in person can one say if that is true (which it is...seriously dude, put mayo on your beard every night. it'll help) or not.
Never met John actually...but had a delightful dinner with his wife and she told me about having to pluck his three whiskers every couple of weeks.
Deregulation achieved its goal- the lowering of prices for consumers. In addition the number of airline jobs has grown as airline travel exploded with cheaper fares. There has been a down side for the inefficient airlines (many are now gone), and for unions which never really absorbed the reality of deregulation- but deregulation was not done for the workers or for the airlines. It was done for the consumer.
Don't burn fuel, and you tell the passengers 'tough crap' its the weather (ie. act of god) and presto, passengers stay on their own dime for three days.
