Being under the approach path of a Piaggio P.180!

Man that plane just sounds cool! A'hmo hafta get me one of those.

When you do, don't worry about posting mins for the pilots you'll be hiring because I'm a gunna send a resume anyway.

We have one on the charter side at work. It has a very distinct sound and you know it's there without having to see it. I think it's a cool bird.

Just cause it can rip across the sky like crazy, don't forget they can slow down to an absolute crawl on final! My first commercial go around came after making HUGE S turns for spacing.

def. a cool plane. I had the pleasure of talking to some avantair guys a while back, and amazingly they didnt seem to care for it too much. I realized why when their charter showed up with an 2 extra pax. They said they were under max gross but almost turned away the 2 extra guys anyway. I didnt see what the big deal was untill i watched them take off.

It looked like it took them 7000 ft to clear 50ft.

Hmm, I think I know which plane your talking about, if your out of OJC. Its a cool plane, but isn't it for sale? In regards to the P.180, they (Avantair) seem to use SRQ a lot for training and whatnot, which isn't surprising since they are out of PIE. Only plane I don't have to get up to go see what it is. I'd love to see one some day that's painted solid black. That might just be the coolest thing ever, if somebody would do it.

I talked to a couple of Avantair pilots in AUS a few months back. Both loved the airplane, and the owners love its efficiency compared to jets used for the same mission.

I, too, would love to fly one, but I'm almost afraid that the actual flight would diminish my fantasy enjoyment of it.

I got the chance to be pampered in one from FL to Teterboro and back.

It is so incredibly quiet in that cabin, we were having normal conversation comfortably. It was quite an experience. Lots of head room in the cabin as well.

Doesn't Avantair send their crews to train in Italy?

That'd be fun!

Except for Italian toilets. How is it they can build Piaggios, Ferraris and a pretty respectable pasta carbonara, but when it comes to lavatory sciences, they're still a little "tribal".

Considering that they pretty much invented that whole toilet system you would think they might have evolved a little better. :bandit:

I talked at length to an Avantair captain one day in December. Great guy and was really young. Started to not like the job anymore honestly.

He mentioned how while they look like nice airplanes, they can be a MX nightmare. He gave us specific stories of how stuff randomly catches on fire, equipment goes inop inflight, how the nosegear steering is a pain in the butt to turn on and work, and small things specifically how you can't use full reverse or the airplane would tip over from a nose-up pitching moment.

Still sounds awesome though with the PT6's mounted correctly.

We have one flying out of ORL near everyday. Sweet looking aircraft.

Tech question--does having the prop in the back give better thrust than having it in the front?

Cordially

p.s. Thank you J.C. now I am googling "italian toilets" to go see what they look like.

p.p.s......ok....how the heck do you poop in this????
