YX Pilots Lose Pass Travel

We won't start hiring for another month or so. Hopefully we hire a lot of them.

Really excellent commercial to play in the markets where Midwest was big (KC among them) is to have some pilots, FA's, and anyone else AT hires from Midwest on the same commercial. Something along the lines of:

"We all used to provide you with really great service at Midwest. Unfortunately, the people now running Midwest kept the paint, but gutted the airline and it is now flown by outsourced, inexperienced pilots and a cabin crew with no commitment to service. Thank goodness for Air Tran - we can now provide that same great service and experience for them. Fly Air Tran!"

That would be the killer commercial - and print ad as well.

EDIT: No slam in RAH pilots here - it is just the commercial I would run. Particularly after the fears people may have after 3407 it would be a smart card to play and if I were SWA or Air Tran competing against you - particularly in Milwaukee or Kansas City, that is the card I would play, repeatedly

To be honest with you I don't think people care. They just go to Priceline click the lowest price and fly from MDW-CLE w/ connections in STL, CMH, & IND to save $3 round trip.

Pax like to complain about quality and the free drinks, etc, etc, etc....but really all they care about is the $5 they save on the round trip to fly w/ a less experienced flight crew w/ an overall less satisfying experience.

The weird thing is that the people in MKE actually do seem to care. It's one of the few union towns left in America, and they had real loyalty to what they viewed as the "home town airline" until Bedford decided to soil it.

That is actual very impressive. I leave you w/ this awesome quote that I ran into today from a poster on a news website in reference to the British Airway Cabin Crew strike. I threw up a little in my mouth.

I feel for Mr. Walsh as he tries to keep the Airline in business and is kicked in the teeth by his own staff. I wonder if they realize that by taking this kind of action they will annoy their customer base and force them to make alliances elsewhere.

It is probably time for a changing of the Cabin Staff as I have found that they usually have a better than thou type of attitude and treat the people that are not in Business Class or First Class as if they are not worthy. Some are very good but it is just the impression that I get. Well guess what those are the people that will quickly jump ship and spend their money on Airlines with friendlier more attentive cabin staff.

MKE cares, trust me.

That's what makes the midwest US such a quirky, but good place to live, people actually give a poop about their neighbors.

Disgusting.

I don't even think corporate-conglomerate-militant AMR would even stoop that low...

How can guys like this live with themselves? Why must so many sell their souls for a management title?

Like Doug said, the Midwest is the kind of place where people would care. You should have heard how everyone felt about the start of the NW/DL merger that would turn MSP into "just another hub". The whole city was following the merger and even cashiers at the mall and the like would start talking about it randomly. Same goes for SY coming out of bankrupcy, it was all over the front pages of the paper.

If FL picks up a bunch of YX crews and the people of MKE know about it, you can bet thats where they are going to go.

man, i've kept quiet for a while, but this is similar to something he did before.

back when CASS came online, bedford refused to pay for it, and eventually used it as a negotiating tool with the union. so for months (maybe years - i don't remember), chautauqua pilots could not get into the jumpseats of off-line carriers.

because of this, there were several times i was unable to get home to see my family on my days off. i'm certain i was far from alone in not being able to get home to see family on days off during this time.

bedford is vocal in his christianity. but it clearly takes a back seat to $1.

Im also down to donate some buddy passes to anyone who wants em.

Another fine example of how Bedford is ruining this before it really even takes off. MKE is a tough sell and he is just throwing Air Tran and Southwest marketing ideas left and right. How bout another commercial that has Bedford talking about how MKE is only a place you go if you absolutely need to and how the residents of MKE will pay a premium for "that cookie". Way to go Bedford.

There were a bunch of SYX folks who had April to July (I think) class dates that all got canceled. I hope they are still on the list, too. Air Tran was awesome when TH kicked the SkywayExers to the curb.

I recall a thread about why MKE is such a big deal. The thing about MKE is that it was a "hub" for travel to the resort-ish northern WI, MI, and the UP. The bonus is that people didn't have to mess with the chaos of MSP or DTW. It also apeals to the northern IL ritzy crowd who doesn't want to deal with ORD, or the drive to MDW.

The only detractors are that the county is incapable of keeping the runways open if there is a snowflake in the air and the threat of food poisoning at the D Con Deli. :D

The company did keep everyone in the pool, so anyone that had a class date will be getting another one. I expect the first newhire class to be in February.

MKE is good people.

I'd put down money this will be seen for years to come as the biggest mistake by YX ever.

You don't F with Midwestern folks. They are more vindictive than New Englanders.

Yes.

When you walk into a bar with an out of state ID and they'll give you crap about a football game six years ago, this was a major faux pas.

I remember when we picketed Skyway HQ. We had more locals out there with torches and pick axes than we did total employees at the company.

We live in phoenix where many people put up the christian front but don't actually follow it so he must have roots here.

Or the South. Amazing how you mention volunteering at a soup kitchen how quickly the people in their Sunday best scatter......

I look forward to hearing from the pseudo free marketers on how airline management is actually your best friends and unions are for chumps.

Utterly reptilian and repulsive. This is from the guy who, IMS, REQUIRES his empoyees to read his personal diatribes on religious issues. What an ass.

I keep hoping that someone from RAH will go to the DOL to complain about a hostile work environment based on his religious diatribes that include topics as controversial as abortion.
