How important is a college GPA?

Now if you can just get your companies initial screening to let my 2.67 GPA get to your interview, then you are more than welcome to not care;)

It matters in some fields, Aviation really isn't one of them. Engineering can be that way at times. Like now.

Exactly what I was talking about. I've met both those guys - anybody that roomed/schooled with either of them (much less both!) has to be one smart dude to graduate at all, much less make a 2.45!

I think I'd laugh at anyone that asked for a GPA. I've never heard of anyone being asked that question on ANY interview for ANY job. I've got friends with C averages that are now working with nuclear reactors.
 
If you got it (3.8 here) flaunt it. Otherwise, no one gives a crap.

Also, after your first job no one gives a crap.

i hoping that is sarcasm and you aren't encouraging our youth to waste their college years.
 
GPA's are important and you should get them as high as possible. Most employers will also take into account extracuricular activities as well. You will need to keep track of your GPA all the way back throuh HS. I know Delta wants them all the back, even if you transferred, they want them from every HS and College you attended.

I personally recommend creating a binder with all your important documents. That way all your transcripts, Driving records, letters of rec, address history, etc are all in one place.

Nobody's ever asked me for my GPA on an interview. It's kind of like what they say about the guy who graduates last in his class in med school.

Know what they call him?

Doctor.

So, if you've got a bachelor's degree, you've got a bachelor's degree and you get to check the box.

That doesn't mean that you should blow off class and not worry about it. You're spending good money to get an education. You need to make sure that money isn't wasted.

You're kidding, right? I majored in psychology and those classes were easy. What is it that you're not getting? I probably can explain it to you and it's been 20 years since I took a psychology class.
 
Well why would they have to ask for a gpa.... they ask for the transcripts anyways, they can just read it straight from there. No idea how much weight it's given... nor do I have a clue what mine was :)
