Pinnacle has reached a TA!!!

The next step is to get rid of everyone and start a new union. A union run by equal parts of senior and junior guys and a union that focuses on regioinal airlines. I will lead it if you guys want. I will send out cards. We can call it the PPA. My first step will be to get WG fired.

A very BAD idea! Any idea how you would fund your plan? It's certainly not coming from regional pilot salaries. This is just one example, of many, why this is not a good idea.

We need UNITY, not splintered factions.....trying to divide the pilots of different groups will not serve anyone well. IMHO.

Perhaps you were being sarcastic....if so, carry on.

WG is gone, SR is up for a vote. Look at the makeup of the rest of the MEC. You have FO's, you have CA's from up and down the list. MEM's makeup will change soon- elections are in Oct and from my "sources" a special election will cover both spots if the CA rep is out, the FO rep "should" be moved to another position. Before you give up on the union- work to make it better. It's amazing what a single person can do! I am not saying "volunteer". While the mindset of "you are the union" does exist, union work is not for everyone- it's for those that want to do it and are willing to put forth the time and effort as a "team player" and not for "me, me, me". Find out who wants to run/help and back them. A single base can change everything.

Scott is MEC Chairman, not a status rep.
Alright. All I know about the guy is that he is very highly spoken of and talking to him on the phone made me think he was a very polite and grateful guy. Glad to hear he's still around and even better than he's a chairman.

I'm with Ken on this. It's not necessarily ALPA that's the issue, it's some of the REPRESENTATIVES we've got in place. Honestly, I think we NEED someone (be it an FO or CA) that's actually on reserve that gives input on the reserve practices. I find it VERY hard to believe that anyone on reserve (or that has sat reserve under the current PBS monstrosity) said "Wow! This is great!" if the NC showed them the reserve sections. If we were still under PAPER BIDDING, yeah, some of the stuff might work out. As it is, the guys responsible for writing those sections only have a dim, hazy memory of reserve in a totally different form than what we have today.

I sat reserve as an FO when we were doing paper bids, and now I'm on RSV as a CA under PBS. PBS has WAAAAYYY more options for scheduling to abuse you than paper bidding EVER did.

I still don't like where we went with the medical benefits. Unless I get some SERIOUS trade-offs, I don't want to see my co-pays TOUCHED. Who wants to get a new insurance card every YEAR since all that info is listed on the card for the doctors and pharmacists? I might even be open to $10 for generic and $15 for name brand prescriptions over the life of the contract, but NOT $10/$20 and NOT $20 per for a doctor visit. I'd have been out over $120 last week alone in co-pays.

I'm fine with voting this one down and taking another year or so. I'm better off under the 99 agreement than I am under this TA, personally.

We are not getting any unity now, this TA has Senior vs. Junior written all over it. Everything from dual qual to reserve rules to highspeed rules. There are some crappy parts for the senior people too but the junior people would suffer much more.

It may have "We haven't been a reserve guy/gal in so long we honestly forgot," written all over it too.

Just saying.

It's so tough in this biz, and with a big pilot group, to keep on top of everyones issues. People need to be more involved with their union I think. Which has been said many times on this thread, don't mean to preach to the choir all the time, just a reminder.

Theft of underpants?

Bingo. A lot of the language they put in for reserves would have been SWEET under paper bidding. PBS negates any of that b/c it gives the company so much leeway. I'd be willing to bet no one that negotiated this thing sat an hour of reserve under PBS. Some of the stuff TA'd was done years ago back when you only spent a few months on reserve as opposed to years. The mentality was "Eh, they can tough it out for a few months, and then look what they get!" That mentality is gone now. The only way we're gonna get the company to go back and re-open sections that were TA'd by people that have be gone for over 2 years already is to vote this thing down and send it back to the drawing board.

Well, when it was written, all we had was paper bidding. The RSV system was designed by Glenn Bruckno, and he did a great job. It just isn't as relevant anymore now that PBS has been shoved down your throat.

Yeah, and I agree. HOWEVER, the mentality never changed after PBS was implemented (nice way of saying "shoved down our throats" :) ). The LOA for PBS was written AFTER it was implemented, and that's where are the crappy reserve rules come into play. Yeah, not only do we have a section 25 on this TA, but there are TWO LOAs that deal with reserve and PBS. One of them just basically says they will come up with a way for reserves to bid in seniority order. It also fails to state a timeline for that....

If this passes the reserves are going to need to start expensing vasoline.

If it passes, I can think of a few RSV guys that may throw in the towel and say "F this." I'm running the numbers, and with the right animals, you can make more money selling color morph ball pythons. One snake of a couple of different type morphs would be about one of my paychecks.

Well since you are just senior to me I would say to look into it...... ehem... ;)

I'm actually thinking of getting into the reptile biz as a side venture. I just saw where a hatchling platinum albino reticulated python (that's a really color color/pattern snake for those that care) sold for $5k. ONE SNAKE for 5 grand. They come in egg clutches of 5 or more. If I had the startup costs, I could put my kid through college slinging snakes and lizards.

Heard tonight that there might be some here that are going to vote "yes" so that people will get fed up and leave and they can then move up in senority. :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

That's an interesting angle to take........

But wouldn't it backfire for them? So they move up.....but still have a crappy TA.

There is always an "I" in team, when your team is "I", "Me", and "Myself".
