If it makes a difference I know guys who have over 7 years in who think similarly.
I have the "get the hell out while you can" idea. It's better to get out now before I waste any more precious years of my life by building a career that leads to very little reward. If I am getting furloughed/making $24-35k/yr for the next several years of my career and potentially having to go back down to the bottom of another lateral-move at least twice, I would feel more comfortable seeking other opportunities now while I am young.
I have a lot of interests, talents, and hobbies that provide the same enjoyment as flying. I will pursue them in the form of a career plan when I finally see the straw that breaks the camel's back.
My "jab" was because Jason is incredibly good at whining and there is no way he can claim ignorance on the state of the industry. So after his whopping 19 months and less than 2000 hours of flying experience, one possible bump in the rode and he is out. Each to their own, everyone has their needs and what not, I just found it humorous.
I agree. I whine. But, I am a very vocal person. I don't sit back and let things mow me over. The squeeky wheel gets the grease.
I think I'd be making a pretty smart move by getting out before it gets worse. I'd much rather take on another career knowing where it will pan out rather than taking on a career with a large amount of uncertainty in my future.
I am thinking about my future, my livelihood, my financial security, and retirement. I think that's a very valid concern that should not at all be associated with past "whining".

I think you know this.
It all boils down to this: Can I pay my bills AND save/invest money? If I can't pay my bills and save/invest money, there is something seriously wrong with my decision to continue in the career I'm in.
