Badges? We don't need no stinking Badges!

My question is, if you see someone on the ramp w/o a badge, how do you know if they are a terrorist or a transient pilot, besides the turban of course.

I know you are being sarcastic, but start challenging everyone... and I mean everyone without a properly displayed badge.

If the TSA shows up or the airport authorities show up without a properly displayed badge, deny them access. Hopefully they will wake up and smell the coffee.

Either that or arrange a protest where nobody (even the dog... loved that) doesn't wear their badge.

Well its official, as of June 1st, we need the badges. Students and transient pilot's are exempt.

dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb

The secretary made a badge for here dog today. He wore it around the office. it was funny.

With the SIDA badge you have to challenge anyone who don't ware a badge, so you're going to have to do the same. Just look at his ID and see where he is from. Plus people reading this might stay away from BZN.

I'm going to fly the metro into some airport, hide my badge, and tell them that I'm a student pilot on a solo cross country.:panic::sarcasm::)

From my understanding, TSOs as well as local LEOs are exempt because the TSA said so!

No proper airport badge, no airport access...

Make it that simple.

When people can't do their job without the badge...

Also, pitch a fit if LEOs have their badges paid for. If you have to pay for yours, they should have to pay for theirs. Fair is fair.

How much transient traffic does BZN have?

I'm assuming we will get some training in what to do in terms of confronting people. Kind of a pain in the butt that we have to now do the TSA's job. I guess it's not as bad as having to go though a security checkpoint ever morning.

Why KBZN? is this going to happen all over? Are we a higher security threat than others? I can't imagine there is much of a threat in MT. I've noticed that the TSA here are terrible. It's like they have nothing better to do. It takes less time to get through MSP security than in BZN or GTF. There are hundreds of flights at the big hubs and they are usually are only screening ONE flight here in MT.

I know this is not a huge inconvenience, but it leads to the question, What's next? Could you imagine if you could not get on the ramp because the TSA went home. You can only fly between certain hours when TSA guys will screen you. I had to miss a flight once because the TSA left five minutes before my flight left. I just had to sit there and watch in board with out me. I know it was my fault for being late but damn.

Well lets just put it this way. The owners of the Yellowstone Club wanted to build a 60 million dollar exit ramp of the highway so that all their member's in their G 5's could get up to the ski hill faster.

If there is a three day weekend the local FBO has around $500 million in aircraft in their care. The entire ramp is full of private jets. I was supposed to fly our TwinStar on Labor Day weekend last year but we could not get a JET A top off it was so busy. It took an hour and a half from the time we called for gas to the time they actually got a break to fill our puny 25 gallon tanks. We just had to do ground.

I would say on an slow day there are at least 3-4 private jets that come in and at least 5 light aircraft that come as well.

You know who the screening will really piss off? The zillionairs in their jets. One of the main reasons they pay the money that they do is so they don't have to wait in line in the terminal. They pull up to their jet in there car, hop on the plane and go.

Talk with the pilots (who in turn talk to the owners) and see if they can't boycott the airport for a few critical weeks or so. Nothing gets attention like losing money... lots of money...

Just a thought...

The airport I fly out of here in NY has a barbed wire fence around the entire field that requires electronic ID badges to open the gates/doors into the airport and movement areas. This is supposed to be required of anyone using/renting/owning any aircraft but we may escort passengers etc with us to our aircraft but they "MUST" remain within close proximity of the "properly badged" person. Its a interesting thing, requires renewal every 2 or 3 years and costs some money each time...... This stuff is just a pain in the ass.... If every airport starts this GA will really have issues and we have NO airline service at the airport, strict GA and business traffic.

It's not just in MT. Any airport that has scheduled airline service is going to be required to have the airport IDs. From ATL to MEM to BZN, if you have a pax service to the airport get ready for the stupidity to begin.

What bursts my bubble is that I am not in the SIDA here at MEM, just the AOA so technically according to the video training that I have accomplished, thank you shelby county, I do not have to display my ID badge above my waist. But if you read in the "Your Responsibilities In the Airport Security Plan" you do. All information is for the airline terminal.

The TSA has no idea how to handle GA. Maybe the should have actually listen instead of talking AT GA.

What is SIDA and AOA?

The airport that I fly out of has airline service, but no SIDA program. So do the Culligan rampers not need badges but a GA pilot does?

I've told more than a few TSA peeps where they can shove it. I'm probably on some black list by now. But honestly I don't give a crap.

We had some TSA person inspect our files, buy she would not give us her phone number if we had a problem. Now how the heck are we supposed to do something if there is a problem?

Little does the TSA realize, but a GA CFI could have stopped 9/11 if the government paid attention to his concerns. They didn't, GA gets punished. They are now putting up another barrier to effective self policing, so that it will be all the more easier for something else to happen.

What is the SIDA and AOA?

I think the TSA thinks GA stands for "GO AWAY"

What a bunch of Rtards. I remember my TSA "training" it was all of 10 minuets long on their website and it basically taught me how to call the authorities about suspicious activities. DUH. Any four year old with some Stranger Danger training could tell you that.

Is the AOPA fighting this push for badges? If not i think they should be. I mean, whats next?
