Kansas City PEPC

Hey does anyone know if it will actually take the whole 7 hrs they estimate? Also, to re-hash this, i'm going to imagine that this is like an initial interview, so business dress? correct? You guys let me know who's going to be around the night of the 18th for some drinks.

I shouldn't take you 7 hours. ESPECIALLY if they are letting you guys use eQIP before the PEPC. That's the longest part was entering your SF85 or 86 into eQIP and even then it was less than 6 hours.

This is the way that mapquest gave me...

Is there a 'better' way than taking South 71 (I-29, I-35) like MapQuest advised or should I take the Broadway Bridge like you suggested?

My PEPC starts at 8:00 AM and I was planning on leaving the hotel at 6:30. Would this be enough time to get from MCI to downtown on Locust Street? I am from Atlanta and very familiar with terrible traffic so I don't know if this is enough time or not. I am going to give it a 'practice run' the day before to get to know the area and stuff.

What does the parking usually run downtown? Five bucks? Ten bucks?

I am looking forward to going to the Chiefs game! If anyone wants to 'tag along' I will have 2-3 extra spots in my vehicle! I am currently bidding for a parking pass on Ebay right now...

There's a lot of road construction on I-35 right now. I'd recommend taking I-29 S from MCI to Hwy 169 S into downtown. Hwy 169 turns into Broadway when you cross the river. There are a few lots to the S of the PEPC building for parking--near the old courthouse/city hall building. I don't know for sure the rates, but I'm sure $10 would take care of a day's parking. Or, as another poster suggested, you can park your car at Executive Beechcraft (FBO) at the Downtown Airport and get a cab to run you across the bridge into downtown. The cab ride wouldn't cost much--it's only about 3 miles, tops.

RobertB--Our heavy traffic is probably nothing compared to what you are used to. If you left the MCI area an hour before your PEPC start time, you will have more than enough time to deal with traffic, find a place to park, etc.

Thanks for all of your advice and help!

Anyone able to get cheap car rental deals for Kansas City? I would appreciate any info on this, the cheapest I could find was around $46/ day.

omfg KC has the most expensive car rentals I've ever had to pay for!!! And this is coming from someone who just turned 25 and stopped having to pay the under 25 $$$$$$ charge.

I tried bidding on priceline but it won't accept any of my bids. :(

What days are you renting?

I am renting for November 19-21...Priceline did not take my $35/day offer either.

Thanks bippoptl, I'll definitely check that out.

To sum some of this up... Did anyone decide if they're feeling social enough to meet and have a celebratory adult beverage or appetizer/meal someplace after (on the 18th)?

AND... Did anyone really find a cheap rental? Can I pay someone to drive me in the AM on the 18th? :) Pretty please...

I posted it earlier, but here goes: try Advantage rental car, they only charge 19.99 for an intermediate size car. I had mine for one day and it was going to come out to $35 and change, but now i'm staying later, so it came out to just over 65 for two days.

Try this link: http://www.advantage.com/j/i/1341

It should take you straight to the 19.99 a day for the intermediate car. Let me know if you need more info!

the 18th @ 11am, so i'm flying in that morning, getting there at 7, getting my car, checking into my room, and then hopefully a shortened PEPC due to the e-quip....then some drinking!!!

This is excellent, I just saved 50% on my car rental...thanks a lot.

It was so easy even a caveman could do it. :D

It somehow was more effective the second time around... :buck:

I think I owe you a drink. Now that I'm spending less on the car rental, I can use my savings to buy a round for the 18th-ers. ;)

How come nobody is commiting to an adult beverage ceremony? Am I scaring you away? :D
